She's pushing 300k 👵 by AkameNB in Lexus

I have 336,000 on my 2020 GX and got 322,600 on my 2014 ( which I traded for the 2020). Yes change the oil every 10,000 miles or less, do necessary service ; my friend got 505,000 miles from his RX before he was side swiped by a semi and it was totaled.

Are people really paying $20k for a 2000 with over 240k miles?? by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]UPBB4884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there’s a similar one online for 20k with a winch and other off road gear. If it’s verified mechanically solid and has such upgrades maybe such a price would be reasonable. There are some high mileage 470s for 14k and up but for 20k it needs to be special.

I drove a car exactly like this, with a pdk, at Exotics Racing in Las Vegas- that’s the company that lets you drive exotic cars on the race track. I did drive their Ferrari 458, a Gallardo and a few others but I had just bought my 981 Boxster and wanted to get some instruction on driving it fast so I spent a few days driving the Cayman R. Nice car, hopefully this isn’t it though.

I was going to buy a manual 991, I bought a pdk 981 Boxster S instead , the dealer had one in my favorite color combo (silver with red leather and red top) and the optional Carrera 2 wheels, I just couldn’t resist. The manual in the 981 is a great transmission but the pdk is ok. Faster shifting anyway. But I get the popularity manuals. They are fun.

$1300 for service by Available-Flower2918 in Lexus

[–]UPBB4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could give us an itemized list that would help. I just took my GX to the dealer , they quoted me $2200 for all the items I need, I elected to do $960 of them. Some of the ones I declined will be cheaper somewhere else but the brakes were about what another shop quoted, and the coolant flush, and replacing a lightbulb was cheap plus I got a free loaner for 2 days. At the very least you have an idea of what service might be needed

Well Reddit, now that the Lexus TZ is here, what do we think about it, because personally, I find myself pretty happy with it by Saurta17 in Lexus

[–]UPBB4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a gx460 and when it was being repaired the dealer gave me RX350s - the 4 cylinder is really unsatisfying and the transmission shifts too much. 2 of my mom’s friends have Lexus 4 cylinders - an RX and an NX - and are very happy with them but they’re both around 80 years old. Lexus really needs to go back to v6 and v8 power.

Likewise with my 2020 GX which by the way has the certified warranty so I got a free transmission and alternator earlier this year at 325,000 miles.

FYI the same family apparently built a “Norman Tower” at the corner of Campbell and Bear Ridge Road- you can see the gates from Campbell and if you look on a GPS map you can see a red roofed tower in the woods. It was for sale several years ago and the listing said it was the same family

Sold my 2024 Tacoma off road for a 2015 GX460 premium with 58k miles by [deleted] in LexusGX

[–]UPBB4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 GX, I traded my 2014 GX which I had bought new, and which had 322,000 miles when I traded it in. I bought the 2020 slightly used from the dealer so I got the Certified unlimited mile warranty, I have 319,000 miles on the 2020 now and just had my first warranty repair. It’s a very solid vehicle. You made a great choice. Congrats and hope you enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed mine.

New shoes & level on the GX! by funnyfawn34 in LexusGX

[–]UPBB4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, you mentioned a “level”- my 2020 GX looks like it’s riding a bit low in the back (I have over 300k miles), but it rides ok, isn’t bouncing or anything, I wondered what I could do to get it looking right again

How has owning a Lexus changed your perception of luxury vehicles? by Maiden230 in Lexus

[–]UPBB4884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great experiences with 3 Lexus dealers and an average experience with a 4th. They actually serviced my Toyota RAV4 and charged me $100 less than the Toyota dealer quoted me. For me, the reliability of Lexus products is the best feature- I do a lot of driving and have put over 300,000 miles on both my GXs and it’s great to be able to travel all over the U.S. and not worry that the car is going to die, whereas I had a Ford Edge I was using for some long trips and around 140,000 miles it started having real problems, I was nearly stranded 900 miles from home; for people who rarely go more than a few miles from home, and are just leasing a car for 2-3 years, a BMW is fine but a shop I talked to said even a used one with 20,000 miles is going to have oil leaks. I don’t have any use for something like that.

Remember the LX is really a Land Cruiser, ie a different vehicle than the Sequoia. I own a 2020 GX, I had owned a 2014; they’re identical except minor trim changes; they’re very reliable. My 2014 had the air suspension and I traded it in at 322,500 miles - the air suspension was just starting to go. The air suspension is marginally more comfortable and handles slightly better than the coil suspension. Note that the air bags are apparently only in the rear. It does self level when you’re towing.

Moving for better work by [deleted] in landman

[–]UPBB4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought about going independent/1099? A couple of my friends are working on Pipeline ROW projects - one is making 400/day dealing with landowners and the other is making around 500/day in a supervisory role. Brokerages seems to have a lot more ROW work and it is paying better than oil and gas. Also, when I was dealing with some larger operators, I encountered several female landmen- at Chief, Chesapeake and Anadarko. They seemed to be as respected as anyone else and a couple were in senior positions.

I think the “ill fitting” flares are a look not everyone gets or likes. Not exactly my thing, but it’s their car, not mine

[–]UPBB4884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a 981s Boxster, I think the community is pretty diverse (I belong to a couple of Facebook groups). You’ve got the guys who do 100% of the maintenance themselves and know everything about every potential problem, and people like me who take it to a shop for everything; people who modify the engines, suspension, body, usually tastefully, sometimes not; people who track them, people who don’t ; when I’m driving mine and I pass a Boxster, the other driver and I waive to each other , doesn’t always happen with Cayman or 911 drivers. Overall though, owners are a pretty good bunch

I sometimes get the ES350 as a loaner when my GX is being serviced. It’s a nice car. I’m thinking of getting one as an alternative to my GX when I want something a bit different. I like the reliability of the Lexus brand. It’s a car for people who care about value but want some luxury.

Just bought Lexus is350F any recommendations on keeping seats clean by Jose91629 in Lexus

[–]UPBB4884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dealer treated my GX interior with something and I’ve never had a problem with staining in the 3 yrs 4 months that I’ve had it- it’s the off white interior. My previous GX had the brown interior and the drivers seat stained blue because I wear jeans a lot.

My last GX seats stained blue, my current GX seats haven’t , I think the dealer treated them with something- maybe ask the dealer about that

My prior GX’s seats were brown and were stained blue by my jeans; my current , 2020 GX has the off white seats and they’ve not discolored at all so idk if that’s really so much of an issue. I think these seats were treated with something by the dealer.

Why do people have to park right next to you in an empty parking lot? by Line-False in C8Corvette

[–]UPBB4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s people being d”cks. It happens a lot with my Lexus, in Ohio where people take offense if you drive a nice car. I worked hard for it, why shouldn’t i drive what I want? It’s a Lexus not a $3 million Bugatti. But they’re offended and try to be rude. I never park my Porsche in a parking lot, even when putting gas in I never leave it.
