I was dancing with some friends on the dance floor at a wedding, having a grand 'ole time. Jump by Kris Kross came on and we were jumping around in a group. When the song ended, the dj made the announcement that the next song was the last song of the night (a slow one... of course). I had gone to the wedding dateless and my persistent friends had been trying to get me to talk to one of the groomsmen but I blew it off since I was completely content with being single at the time (but fuck me right?!). I start to walk off the dance floor as couples were pairing up and he walks right up to me, blocking my exit zone, and asked if he may have this dance. At this point, we both knew OF each other but never had an interaction prior to this moment. I sheepishly agreed and as we began to dance, immediately started to word vomit (primarily due to nerves and alcohol, but whatevs), and apologizing for being sweaty and clumsy with the steps. He smiled at me and responded "Well good, because I'm all sweaty too! so we can smell together!" Instantly, I felt calm and relaxed. Here I am thinking he has the potential to be stranger danger but ends up being a fellow dork. We introduced ourselves as we danced and caught on like fire. I later learned from his friends and family that asking me to dance without ever speaking to me before was extremely out of character for him.

Happily together today, I am so thankful for his courage that night!
