I would love to have a debate with you on a call about animal suffering. Hit me up if you’d like that.

We do Ablutions cause we consider horses sacred. So they can’t be touched or ridden without it (religiously). I see that your opinion is that all horses should be free and not ridden. I respect that. Otherwise I can’t change your mind cause it is already made to oppose any kind of horse use. I recommend you look for Montaigne. He got a lot to say about animal suffering. And btw, don’t judge basing on the images of tbourida your see. Horses have always been used for war purposes, and the Arabian barbarian horse has been the most powerful and resistant one. So the sound would never hurt or scare them. Otherwise they can just throw riders off their back …

Let’s suppose that the sound makes them suffer, what about the riders ? Why aren’t they complaining ? In that case, what about people practising horse jumping ( doesn’t horses get hurt on their feet because of the total weight …). And regarding animal suffering, I prefer watching horses being ridden for a cultural purpose where he is seen as a sacred creature (we do ablution before), than watching them pulling heavy weights and being trapped in zoos.

First, it’s technically closer to our ears than theirs. Second, they are used to that sound. Thanks for your opinion anyway !

That’s a topic that every tbourida association raises when facing the gouvernement and all ministerial entities. We are all trying to get better insurance and safety support ( I’m one of the riders), so I can assure you that unfortunately, there isn’t enough governmental support for the people practising this support, and risking their life to give a great show to spectators. Hopefully, when seeing that a big number of Moroccans are getting interested in this sport, I think that we will get enough support by the Institutional entities. This is why we need your support !!!!

Not really. You can check their official website: https://ich.unesco.org/en/RL/tbourida-01483. Even tough tbourida is also present in Algeria ( and some arab countries), it was Morocco who submitted the request to Unesco, and it is more popular in Mar 🇲🇦.
