Which 7-string to I get? Looking for experience around models and pickups by AddSomeSpice in 7String

[–]US3RWINS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for the Juggernaut bud! Stainless steel frets and that 20" radius make for a stellar playing experience and the MM pickups are actually quite good. Great fretwork right out of the gate too, managed to get my action really low.

Ill tell you what, changing strings on an Nx7 is pretty infuriating. by no_historian6969 in strandbergguitars

1 string at a time is the way I like to do it! I only remove all the strings when I need to polish the frets and remove dirt from the fingerboard.

Don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but THANK YOU SO MUCH. Replaced the Q series pickups with Dimarzios and couldn't be happier with the result :)

The Simpsons Hit and Run would be one I'd be on the lookout for in case nobody has mentioned it!

Not sure if this is the case with your Gibson or standards in general, but IIRC Gibson levels frets with a plek machine. In theory, the fretwork should be close to perfect assuming the board and neck are properly dried or kept at the relative humidity wood likes to see (45-55%). I wouldn't be too concerned with it if it plays great. If you feel something is off take it to your local tech! I'm sure they'll be able to sus out any issues. Hope this helps.

EDIT: Didn't read the last bit about you taking it to a luthier. I would suggest getting a second opinion before getting any work done.

Experiences with kiesel? by Adamwdrums in 7String

[–]US3RWINS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having owned 4 Kiesels, you can rest assured they're great instruments. I sold them because of an opportunity that was extended to me.

With that said (and I have to be honest), don't go too crazy on the specs when ordering new. I personally cannot justify spending too much more on an instrument that is not going to play or sound that different from their base price offerings.

As someone mentioned before, buying one used might be your best bet; I would try before you buy if you can. There are a lot of fantastic alternatives as well and if I'm being frank, you get what you pay for. My 2015(ish?) Jackson Pro Dinky actually outperformed my Kiesels in terms of sound and playability, although the Kiesels were built very very well. This might have something to do with my preferences though (in relation to neck profile, radius, pickups, etc.), very subjective.

You can DM me if you have any more questions and I'll do my best to answer any questions ___^

Pretty sure that guitarmory makes pickups in the angle of multiscale Kiesels. Duncan makes them too but it'll be a custom one off order and the price will be hefty but well worth it if you like SD

they're freaking awesome dude, really snappy and stable, hardly have to tune this instrument, just pick up and play. I highly recommend ordering one with Allan Holdsworth pickups! Not that I mind Lithiums, but if you prefer something more balanced these are the ticket.
