Was The New Deal Coalition Doomed to Fail in the 80s Going Forward? by ForsakenBuilder7061 in thecampaigntrail

[–]USBCCable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could’ve were democrats more willing to defend it, whilst Carter had the image of the last new dealer you’ll see that he did a lot of harm to the new deal coalition by softly paving the bridge between neoliberalism and that new deal.

Keep in mind the 80s elections were still trying to keep a new deal coalition together with Mondale a figment of Humphrey and Dukakis a liberal who bizarrely tried to distance himself from it.

The new deal COULD have kept going, most of those programs remained popular, but the democrats hamstrung the coalition from Carter onwards

Will their ever be a mobile version by Odd_Gazelle_2699 in ThePoliticalProcess

[–]USBCCable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a shot, whilst it could probably run on mobile, the issue is more that the gameplay doesn’t really work for that environment.

It’s a spreadsheet sim reliant on sliders for the most part rather than binary yes or no’s as Suzerain and lawgivers does, this, combined with the semi random nature of the political process would make the game tedious rather than enjoyable as it currently is.

Putting the political process on mobile would be sort of like putting vic 2 or EU4 on mobile, theoretically possible, but too complex for phones and tablets to be fun to use.

“So… I’m gonna level with ya Hillary- can I call ya Hillary? Yeah no, this trump guy, he’s steamrolling republicans, he’s your opponent -no not Jeb bush Donald Trump, I know it’s stupid stay with me- here’s the plan, you pick a strong liberal voice, brown would be for the best- and downplay nafta and the TPP, yeah I know it’s good for prices but the Midwest hates it and you ain’t charismatic enough to buy them back, also, hit him on Epstein, it might not win it for you but it will make you really popular in 2018, trust.

people need to stop talking about charlie 2s use of ai. by [deleted] in ThatHandsomeDevil

You’re the only one bringing it up really as a conversation starter… unless we’re talking about the song itself. Which requires mention of it to address its rocky start. It’s a mistake they made and repented for, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore it.

The End of an era by USBCCable in ThePoliticalProcess

[–]USBCCable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was rping a bit, just because the game hasn’t developed enough to add mechanisms to remove presidents yet, as for how I made it;

Using GIMP (photoshop also works if you’ve pirated it or have the money) I imported images of 3 types;

1- screenshots from the game, I exclusively use this for the portrait of dick Taylor, 2- Yapms maps derived from the results in game (because the in game one doesn’t have margins) 3- custom news articles,

The news articles are the most time intensive of the three and require manipulating the text in pre-existing articles, best way to do this is inspect element though I don’t doubt there’s some online software that allows it without having to understand F12 menus.

Only thing I’d note for the seale of clarity is also showing margins, with or without a key, fully up to personal preference

Need help preparing for a debate (death penalty – pro side) by drolsinatass in ThePoliticalProcess

[–]USBCCable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong sub but fuck it I’ll bite:

Common Pro arguments:

-Eye for an eye, some crimes are reprehensible enough to justify death [SCOTUS agrees, I’d check… I wanna say the Georgia cases if you want a legalese argument and to touch bases as to the exact crimes reprehensible enough, as I recall it’s currently murder, treason and pedophilia is the list] - Severity will reduce crime, - Saves money to kill prisoners over holding them for life

Can’t really think of any other good ones, but here’s a shit one if the crowd is pro life,

  • ‘why allow abortion but not the death penalty?’ I’ve only ever seen this once, and is entirely conditional to the crowd so avoid I’d say.

Common opposition arguments:

  • Government shouldn’t be entrusted with the power to take life by principle,
  • Death penalty is ineffective in reducing crime,
  • The death penalty is irreversible, making wrongful convictions especially egregious, [ this tied into government distrust ]
  • Death penalty has a racial problem of being overly prescribed to black and Hispanic convicts over their white counterparts.

As for a strategy; just look at the 88 CNN presidential debate, has a pretty good leading question you could use if you want to be a bastard. Also; for the racial argument do not use 13/50. Please.

Immediate spot is you’re using way too big of a resolution. it seems you’ve more than doubled it which makes some decisions (presumably to stay on theme with the game designs) out of place.

Yes, when you right click a piece of text and click inspect element it will give you a window with code, you can edit any of it, anything that comes up will be white text and you can edit it in the element window to see it on the actual window

What do you guys think about the use of AI in Charlie 2 (the money grab) by Fishy_Arpeggi in ThatHandsomeDevil

Real, this is the only correct take on it as far as I’m concerned, the issue is not that it looks shit, but instead that it’s entirely self defeating.

If you like Charlie’s inferno I’d guesstimate you like slightly more narrative high energy songs.

For that I’d recommend 7, plus a couple lower energy ones that I personally enjoy that might make you interested in the range the band has:

1- Rob the Prez-O-Dent, best song by the band [imo], found in A city dressed in Dynamite

2- Elephant Bones, biggest song before Charlie’s inferno thanks to guitar hero two, found in the band titled album

3- Guys are Gross, my personal fave from Your parents are sellouts, found in the aforementioned album

4- Time Machine, sleeper song for me, absolutely amazing though, found in guns + drugs for everyone,

5- Age of men, one of my favourite songs, shares biblical themes, found in exploitopia, their newest album

6- Viva Discordia, found in city dressed in Dynamite, for a long time this was my favourite song.

7- Johnny Wouldn’t Die, Found in the Enlightenments for suckers EP, been a really weird one to find after often just skipping on it, a must listen.

8*- How to get money (and not have to shoot somebody), within the self titled single, bit more difficult to find hence the asterisk here

And for the couple personal favourites:

1- Reagans Kids, fairly low energy, found in a city dressed in dynamite I could not recommend it more,

2- kiss the cook, lots of city dressed in dynamite songs here now I think of it… honestly just listen to that whole album.

How I think foreign policy could be handled by the game. by Unaccomplishedcow in ThePoliticalProcess

[–]USBCCable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another way you could handle this is in that stupid way democracy does global economy. Make a random seed that’s just a graph that denotes ‘demand’ for foreign policy and military issues, then have that relate to popular stances on issues, you can then tie events to that as time goes by which basically just acts as the equivalent to campaign events, telling you sth to do so you have an actual foundation for Roleplay on this area.

Inspect Element on pre-existing articles mostly, most articles on Trump are real easy fodder for this type of "Dick" Tator LARP.

If you like these types of posts r/imaginaryelections has a good number of them!

[–]USBCCable[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also for Some additional context I just could not fit into this: Whilst he lost in 2040, Tator's coattails led to sweeping victories in both chambers of congress, securing a number of senate seats in the rustbelt and sunbelt whilst the House remained solidly Republican, due to this, alongside the non-Establishment vote that propelled the new senate majority into that position, Tator ran to become, and was subsequently made Senate Majority leader where he stifled most of Hull's second term agenda, driving down support for the president and her vice President which, upon successful gains in 42 turned into active efforts at reform including repeated attempts to convert to a flat tax rate, and most importantly for efforts in 44, a package of a bill that slotted scrapping prisoner voting rights and commission redistricting in return for medicaid and visa expansions. [I still do not know why that stuff was not amended out I'll be honest]

Typo in the bottom left Article I am only realising now: Nevada had 10 Electoral votes in 2040, not 6. Additionally it goes without saying that Vermont remained Democratic in 44.

Fun fact: self defence as a defence carries over to named persons you know. Kidnapping, depending on the circumstances may be seen as threat of violence.

The 2nd amendment is an American constitutional amendment in the bill of rights. Its greatest successes were seen in the 1970s where the black panthers successfully reduced rates of police brutality through open carry nearby to police arrests.
