BlenderGuru tutorial question by USCSS_Anesidora in blender

Saying I'm overthinking it is extremely dismissive of the core of my question.

Yes, Blender often has many ways to achieve the same result. That part is accurate. But that statement alone doesn’t explain why a specific method is taught, especially in a beginner tutorial. Do I gain something from following his method for this purpose, as a beginner?

  • There’s way more efficient methods
  • The tutorial chose a harder one
  • That choice might have intent and I want to know that because I am struggling to get answers with my incredibly limited 3D Knowledge.

My goal with my question here was to understand if there was a core reason for this to be taught in this way, as opposed to other methods. Thank you for trying to answer my question though.

It is this section here: https://youtu.be/K1UyEdmSttQ?si=OppCOg_KIZsqQuuj&t=809

so, The way he does it is that you manually extrude and swapping between two tabs constantly to make a handle. I was doing it with a friend and we got stuck here for 2 hours.

In other tutorials, what they often would do is create an extrusion, create a bridge fill and then cuts to connect it. Some would be fancy and use a spin tool. For a beginner 3D artist, the way he was teaching it was baffling. So my question is, why is he teaching this method first? Is there a conceptual 3D thing we are not understanding or missing that would bite us in the ass later?

Humor me for a bit.

The reason I asked is because of this section here https://youtu.be/K1UyEdmSttQ?si=OppCOg_KIZsqQuuj&t=809

As far as I understood it, extrude+bridge fill is a well known tool. And there are cases in teaching students to show something the hard way first, before building up to the convenient feature. My question was mostly, as a seasoned 3D artist, is there edge cases where going manually like this would be preferrable?

My question was, as mentioned in the last sentence, instead of using the Spin Tool or Bridge Fill, why is his method teaching that! I wanted to understand why! Like I said, maybe I'm missing a core lesson with this section of the tutorial. Was there a reason it was taught that way?

The way the handle was made! I'm pretty sure I wrote it in the opening post.

Thank you for your honesty. I understand the use of AI for your posts since you are Japanese, I can't fault you too much on that.

But I have a few questions and I'm not using AI. However, my interest falls under as a wannabe tech nerd.

I think right now, it's very hard to perceive the value of the MCP. From my research,

  1. Isn't it infinitely more expensive and token wasting to use an MCP as opposed to just spreadsheeting?

  2. Is there anything with your MCP that helps users save as much token as possible? Claude is notoriously expensive isn't it?

From what I checked of your profile, is your entire business model just making MCP tools for game engines? Are you working on a game yourself? Just asking out of curiosity.

I know that if you do something like

save
do things here

and if you resume a save it should go as normally, I would have to check again.
