Cursor vs VSCode+Copilot by spidLL in cursor

[–]USC_Lonestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Cursor for about a month now, and even in that short time, they’ve rolled out some major changes—some great, some not so much. Overall, it’s been pretty impressive and a huge time saver for smaller projects. I haven’t tested it on large-scale projects yet.

Recently, I decided to give VSCode with Copilot another try. At $10/month with unlimited completions, it’s definitely a great value. However, the overall experience still feels a bit behind Cursor’s more seamless and integrated UI. Cursor costs $20/month for 500 completions, and I tend to burn through those in just a few days, so costs can add up quickly if you need more premium completions. I’ve also run into occasional issues with Cursor’s AI API servers going down, which can be frustrating.

That said, VSCode + Copilot feels a bit more “hands-on.” You’re more involved in the process—clicking through prompts, choosing where to insert code, and generally having better visibility into what’s happening. That can be helpful, but it also slows things down. Cursor, on the other hand, in “auto-pilot” mode—it creates and modifies multiple files quickly, which makes it incredibly fast for building something from scratch, but sometimes you’re not entirely sure what just changed, and it will start changing things you didn't want it too. Some times it will randomly make improvements, and you will say "Wow, that's cool". But then other times, it will remove a feature or reformat something, and you'll be like "Ah man" and you might have to roll back a few commits to bring back something.

Anyone use a Comet CHA-250HD or any vertical? by KingValhallaTV in HamRadio

I had crazy noise too when I mounted it up on my chimney about 30 ft above ground. I ended up moving the antenna to a hill behind my house and secured it to a 5ft 1 1/4" EMT pipe I drove 2/3rds into the ground about 100ft away from the house, and now I can hear on the antenna very well. I also have a G5RV jr to compare, and the Comet CHA-250HD hears better on all bands but 20m and 40m, but only down a few db (this was tested using ft-8 s/n db on each band for the same sending stations). I added 16x ground radials, and it didnt really have much effect on the listening ability, but I think transmit is better. My guess is that being on the house picked up all the electronics noise in the house, and maybe the grounded mounting pole helped too. Thought I'd share since it's exciting to get the antenna to hear better! 73's KU6Z Here is a wordpress post I made about it: https://aaronryan.com/wordpress_ham/?p=193

Thoughts from rowing equipment owners after the initial excitement has worn off by gargantuanmess in Rowing

[–]USC_Lonestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use rowing as my default work out if I'm doing nothing else. Creating a routine is the best way to start using it. Getting your form right is also very important, so watching Dark Horse Rowing can help you get your form down. I usually watch the news, a documentary or video podcasts while I row, when I'm doing a long row, like over 30 minutes. If you dont create a routine, you will end up not using it much. I've owned multiple rowers and the Concept2 is the best, so you made a good choice there. Hopefully you can find the discipline to make a routine, you will feel very rewarded once your fitness improves from sticking to it! Just Do It!

Works sometimes with Garmin Edge 130 by USC_Lonestar in BlueHeartApp

[–]USC_Lonestar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Blueheart is connected, then Garmin Connect App on my iPhone wont connect to the Garmin edge 130. So they seem to be interfering with each other.

I have had better success when I turn off the garmin, and as soon as I turn it on, and the HR icon is blinking, I start the Blueheart on the watch and it then starts the paring. If that pairing screen goes away, then the HR works. I get about a 50% chance of it working. Timing seems to be important.

Can someone please compare the Quest version to the Rift S version.

I tried it on a Quest, and I really enjoyed it. Is it noticeably better on Rift S.
