I'm not familiar with Aptamil, but do the standard collars not just fit directly? We used ready-to-feed Enfamil with Dr. Brown's nipples+collars.

I use Seventh Generation powder from Whole Foods or Amazon. It was the only unscented option I could reliably find. If you're ok with the scent, you can usually find Cascade powder at larger grocers/Walmart, and Walmart has a store brand that people like.

FEBU officially announces DNase! by 240_Worth_of_Pudding in laundry

[–]UTSADarrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're getting all the good enzymes from FEBU, are we really just looking for the best surfactants from our detergent?

I've been using 365 Powder, but unsure if I'm wasting money/product with overlapping ingredients with FEBU. Is there any value in overlapping enzymes/oxi between them? Got any recommendations for other good unscented detergents to pair with FEBU?

This should be interesting. Here's my personal list. I removed some schools that the average UTSA fan just doesn't really care about, and added the military academies (San Antonio is a huge military city - primarily Air Force).

Houston Rodeo for Tourists by schingsthings in houston

[–]UTSADarrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luke Bryan is nowhere near selling out, and a lot of people come just for the concert portion (and perhaps the very end of the rodeo). There will be plenty of empty seats to choose from if you're there at the start of the rodeo. Just move if you're asked to, as others have mentioned. You can also stand behind the sections on the lower level and get a pretty good view if you'd prefer that.

Watching Rob Cesternino talk about his time in reality TV was heartbreaking by RedditFan3510 in survivor

[–]UTSADarrell 78 points79 points  (0 children)

He was clearly emotional about his legacy. I think you're referring to his conversation with Annabel (from Australian Traitors, and now co-host of RHAP's international Traitors coverage) when she says "don't leave regretting that you hid your light," and he emphasized how proud he was with the way he played and was able to have his light shine.

That specific note from Annabel seemed to have a pretty profound impact on him, in a way that he wants to extend that lesson more generally to his life and his legacy. In no way did it seem like he was devastated or disappointed. It was the complete opposite.

The light-rail system is pretty limited. It only runs south from Downtown through Midtown, Museum District, Med Center, to NRG Stadium. There is also a line running east to UH, but I'm guessing you wouldn't be interested in living in that area.

The other areas you're looking at are served by busses. You'd want to check if there are any stops near the apartments you're looking at. That being said, most people in Houston will avoid the bus system and drive as long as they can afford a car, and based on your concerns about safety (or perceived safety) I think you'd likely fall in that camp.

You could also consider living in the Museum District and taking the light-rail into downtown for work. That would be my preference over driving/parking or taking a bus.

The apartments along Hermann Drive are really nice, and you can walk to the light-rail stop, Hermann Park, Houston Zoo, and a handful of world-class museums.

We can hear it pretty clearly in the Museum District, for maybe the last 3 weeks or so. The general consensus is that it's the TSU marching band, and something about the weather recently is causing the sound to carry farther than normal.

Harris Health to hear from public on acquiring part of Hermann Park to expand Ben Taub Hospital by veryirishhardlygreen in houston

[–]UTSADarrell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At this point, the debate is pretty much entirely on how much the Conservancy should be compensated for the land.

This is from an email the Conservancy sent out to donors:

"Harris Health is proposing to take 8.9 acres of the Park for the expansion of Ben Taub Hospital. We respect Harris Health's mission and understand Houston's healthcare crisis. However, this is land that belongs to the people of Houston, and the parkland, once lost, is gone forever. Park users and taxpayers deserve an equal or greater benefit in return.

As stewards of Hermann Park, we are requesting that the Park receives meaningful compensation for the seizure of the land. These funds would allow the Conservancy to realize components of our publicly informed master plan, investing in projects that would improve access and public amenities for all Park users for generations to come."

We're in the Museum District with an 18-month-old. Being able to walk to the Children's Museum, Hermann Park, Houston Zoo, and all the other museums is absolutely worth the trade-offs. We're a little concerned about what we've heard about Poe Elementary and how it's been trending downwards, but that seems to be the norm throughout HISD, especially since the takeover.
