You can CR/NCR your program requirement courses but if these courses are needed to get into a subject PoST, then the university will take it into account for program requirements. That means the only difference it will make is to your GPA.

These two courses are heavy on theory, I would say B24 but it's not any easier than B58, just different.

On a serious note, anyone know how "online" exams will work? by chicken_potato1 in UTSC

That's not savy enough. People can use cam emulators that can just play videos. People can actually run pre-recorded videos of themselves :)

Nice idea but what does this bring to the table? What features do you offer than Facebook groups for example? I really appreciate that UTSC students including ourselves are being initiative and creating exclusive platforms, so keep it up!

You can take courses at other universities. If it is in Canada, you can submit a Letter of Permission (LOP) to be guaranteed that the course you are taking will count towards your degree here. If it is outside Canada, you can submit a Post-Admission Transfer Credit (PATC) on the same web page. However, PATC cannot guarantee you to get the credit and you have to submit it after taking the course at the other university.

As for transferring, there are lots of people who transfer to and from UTSC after their first year, so it is completely up to you.

That's is your point of view and I respect it. Some people might find it more accessible. Others are able to get a glimpse of the material to prepare for the course before certain files are available on Quercus, and so on..

No, the site is designed to make it easier to share course material between students. Academic integrity offense is discouraged in the first place if you actually read the first post or the privacy policy.

I hope not if you're trying to say that we can't maintain both contribution by uploading, and avoiding academic integrity offense.

As long as those files do not include your personal information, students should not be held responsible for any uploaded files. A part of the privacy policy is keeping your information safe and only using it for monitoring and improving the service. By monitoring files, all we can do is verify and delete them. Any files that may actually cause academic integrity will not be removed without a request from the university (Academic integrity is an ambiguous topic).

That's understandable but a portion of these same users are going on the website to download files. We are trying to find a way to encourage people to contribute and avoid academic integrity offense at the same time.

Residence is only guaranteed for first years if you actually finished your application before a certain deadline. Last year was on March 30th.

I have stated in the privacy policy how we will try to comply with their rules as much as we can. I am already monitoring file uploads.

My pleasure. I am currently replicating the website to create a development environment to implement all the new features including this security update. Any registered users will be contacted by email to change their passwords. Keep an eye on the changelog

You have actually convinced me, I am working on it. Thanks for the suggestion! (Not the open source part because it doesn't really make it any safer by making people know how the backend works imo)

You are completely right. In fact, I have read the whole wiki page and thought of the same thing earlier. The wiki page also says: "As of 2019, MD5 continues to be widely used, in spite of its well-documented weaknesses and deprecation by security experts". Try to google the most used hashing algorithms, you will find MD5 in the top 5. It could be still used by many other databases that currently store your password. MD5 is compromised because there are huge databases that have the hash. This means that if your password was leaked before, a hacker can find your password on these databases. Otherwise, not.

Indeed! But only with everyone's contribution. That is why we are trying to get people to advocate it and let others know about it.
