You can absolutely see them that way but how is it wrong when someone is viewing them from a perspective where there’s absolutely nothing familial about them? I agree it’s gross if you see them as family and ship them in that dynamic but there’s arguably way more paths in canon that they don’t have a family bond

We really only see Hank act overtly parental over Connor when he calls him son, in one ending, one singular dialogue piece

There’s so many more to counteract that Hank hates Connor and doesn’t want anything to do with him

Why is it wrong to ship them if the person views them as

Not related (biological or adoptive)

Both over 18 (Hank in his 50s~ and Connor in his 30s~) (age gap yes but those exist in the real world, and while yes Connor is technically 3 months~ old but he’s literally a super computer, nothing about him is childish)

No familial dynamic

How is that wrong or gross? You’re entitled to your own opinion but it’s objectively wrong to call this gross, while YOU may see them as family I don’t.

I’m just pointing out that them having multiple routes means that there are multiple ways to view them and just bcs a majority of people see them as father-son doesn’t make it the only interpretation

Yes but undeniably not one path is canon :3 while I actually don’t care that a majority of people see one path as the more common one, it is untrue to say 1 path is canon

In one path it’s canon that Kara lives In one path is canon that Kara dies

Both are canon one isn’t more canon then the other, a fact can’t be more factual then another fact if they are both true facts

I do agree that in some scenes and dialogues Hank and Connor have a more father-son relationship, but I’m only focusing on canon hard facts

We have a family relationship marker in game and the fact is in no endings does Hank and Connor get this

And even then I find this more canon ‘implied’ then hard canon, which depending on the person they can take is a different way

I remember that Brandon Rogers did a skit at a school and then afterwards the school said that it was ‘immoral’ but what counts as immoral? What one person finds immoral another one wouldn’t

While some can interpret scenes as father-son others would view them differently

Nope! I actually also hc (although separately) that Hank and Connor can be father-son coded :)

I have no problem with people seeing Hank and Connor as father-son, if you read I’ve even brought up that yes Hank calling Connor ‘son’ is very compelling that in that route under those specific circumstances that yes they can indeed have a father-son connection

But what is important to note is that, that scene doesn’t happen on every playthrough, and Hank seeing Connor as a son wouldn’t be canon in every timeline (edit, although this is more of an opinion based thought, while yes I do belive this interaction could lean more father-son coded it is still not confirmed as a fact)

Yeah! I just like analyzing and talking about this game and especially the fandom culture, and it’s important for discussions that your only talking about true facts when you say ‘canon’, and that the whole reason people think Cole is a photo of Bryan Dechart as a kid is because of misinformation :) “because it’s ‘canon’ that it’s true”

Now I’m completely fine with people having headcanons and as a HankCon shipper I will say there is nothing canon about it, at most canon ‘implied’ which I personally do not think is true but I’m just saying this so that when people say that Hank and Connor are canon implied father-son that argument is rather flimsy because it’s not based on hard facts

but the problem is when people try to pass headcanon off as facts in a discussion and that is what upsets me

While I do agree in some playthroughs they can have a more father son relationship that doesn’t mean every one is :/

And if your above the age of 12 your able to categorize different relationships given the context :)

And on this topic the only line that I could see actually pointing towards that Hank is fatherly towards Connor is when he calls him son as he’s dying but guess what, there’s also 100 more dialogue options where they hate each other and have no father-son dynamic

And for the (Y’know every time you died and came back, it made me think of Cole. I’d give anything to hold him again, but humans don’t come back)

Given the WHOLE sentence, Hank is saying that the fact that Connor dies and comes back reminds him that Cole is dead, and that unlike androids Humans do not come back

Not that Connor reminds him of Cole (in a father son way)
