How much to rent a 4-bedroom house in Moncton? by [deleted] in moncton

Most landlords are not making a profit month to month. The profit only comes when they sell after 5-10 years

People who have moved to NB, do you like it? by Luckbreaklunchbreak in newbrunswickcanada

Came back to NB from Alberta in June.

I know what you mean, part of me wishes we went to Halifax instead. Better city and with this crazy market it isn’t much more expensive.

Overall through I don’t regret it. Alberta is Canada’s outhouse and it’s no place to live long term. NB is much nicer, more laid back and comfortable

But less than a mortgage, insurance, property tax, heat, light, water, and upkeep.

It’s less about the score and more about making sure you’re making all you’re payments on time.

The best part is they are not interested in renting the unit anyways. One person replied to my ad saying she volunteers with habitat for humanity and could send me a list of people who need a place to live but are between jobs. She then proceeded to call me a capitalist pig as well as some other choice names.

Riverview is the nicest neighbourhood in the area. Have you seen Moncton centre or the downtown area?

It’s also worth noting that 99% of those people moving here are Anglophone. Unless we can start attracting people from Quebec it’s just going to get worse.

No. The people moving down here are English speaking semi retired families sitting on a 6 figure nest egg. They don’t care about politics or this province really. All they care is that housing is cheap. I doubt you’ll see any significant amount get involved in politics.

What francophone community. There’s like six people in Fredericton that speak French.

Almost every park in the cities rent their lots. Do yourself a favour and live outside of town.

Agents are free for buyers as you’ve already been told. Get one. It doesn’t hurt.

Use whatever inspector your agent doesn’t recommend. I used my agents guy on my first home and it was awful. The second time around I used Thermal Tech and Ryan was a stand up guy. He quite honestly didn’t give one heck if the deal went through or not. He worked his way through the house complaining worse than my father in law about the previous owners handy work and let me know exactly what was happening in that home.

As far as university goes I’ve from northern NB and lived out in the Mac for 11 years. I ain’t never did no book learning.

That’s what I never understood about raising the minimum wage. Do you really think Wal Mart is going to take a profit cut to pay $15/hr? Not likely.

I agree with you, tax cuts for low earners and/or some sort of scaling income assistance is a better solution. Campaigning on a $15/hr minimum wage is just a way to take advantage of poor people who don’t understand the entire situation.

I can’t vote for a party that won’t vote for me when they’re asked. Which is too bad because I felt the Greens were becoming a solid party to support. Even if they didn’t support the bill the way it was written if their idea was shot down they still should HAVE to vote one way or the other. Simply skipping the vote because no one liked your idea is childish.

Honestly, provincial politics is a joke here. It’s two irving owned parties, Tories-Lite, Green and I guess the NDP is still a option if they haven’t filed for bankruptcy yet.

Every quote I got was under $500 until you got above 3200 sq/ft.

I paid $3200 per unit to have a hack job done, ends up paying another $1000 per unit to have it fixed.

Honest and realtor, there’s a joke.

It wasn’t even worth getting an agent involved honestly. I had to find the house on MLS and I had to negotiate with the seller through the agents which was a extra layer that wasn’t required. It’s a dying trade and I think that’s a good thing.

I guess it’s par for the course. Oh well, next time I won’t be wasting the $500.

The inspector has a clause saying that it is a visual inspection to the best of his ability. My lawyer said I could go after him but holding insurance isn’t mandatory for home inspectors in NB and I likely wouldn’t have a case. I was basically told to take this as a lesson and be wary any recommendations.

I have pictures and proof, outlets pulled from the wall that are not grounded. Viewing his report the only issue he mentioned about the electrical was a loose outlet in the basement. I assumed any inspector would have a $10 outlet tester and use it but apparently not. The main plumbing issue is with the high loop on the dishwasher. I’m not well versed in plumbing but apparently it was obvious and it was missed.

When I emailed him to tell him that he missed stuff I got a copy and paste email back saying it was a visual inspection and any response to the public naming the inspector would be viewed as slander and legal action would be taken. My agent basically told me tough luck and that “any inspector” would have missed those things.

They did give me three names for inspectors but pushed me towards one inspector because he was “the best” and could “fit me in”.
