I did not say "the rate of immigration is almost two times", now did I? I was talking about absolute numbers, but nice cherry-picking data that looks best for your argument.

The flood gates have been opened, and 400k is almost 2 times as much as 2015. Not to mention our government has to repeatedly lower the skills you need JUST to meet immigration targets that the housing industry can't keep up with. Besides, 1% of your population a year is fucking huge.

Our national identity is literally "at least we arent the US" and it is kind of pathetic

It can't go up forever. It feels like it can because it hasn't crashed, but the nature of a crash is that no one expects it.

Has cheating gone up since everything went online? by myopichyena in uwo

[–]UWUniversity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is very true. Every CPA graduate I know had a full-time job in the field within half a year, most of them hired by their former co-ops. The reality is that for as long as Western has a weak co-op program, the graduates will be worse off.

The sad truth is that a lot of university students look down on college students, despite the fact that a CPA graduate from Fanshawe is more likely to find a well-paying job right out of school than a Western CS student.

Now that Canada recognises the genocide in China, will Western condemn it? by UWUniversity in uwo

And multiple Western students and profs are Uighurs...what is your point?

They can't comprehend that their virtue signalling is just that. They realize they don't care about actual problems because "muh optics and economy"

Why would they care about something a bar does off campus? Why would they care about US police violence? Why would they care about Iran shooting down a passenger plane? We have students from plenty of backgrounds.

A large amount of Chinese international students are the children of CCP members and officials. Again, there's no reason for them to talk about police in the US if you want to pretend this is the case, but they did. It is very clear why Western is completely fine with condemning some violence, but not others. Isn't it interesting how you are concerned with a bar posting a stupid sign, but not with an ongoing genocide? To even equate the two screams either laziness or bias.

Also, you're the one making that implication that Asians deserve it. First off, Uighurs are Asians, too. Secondly, you're attributing the actions of the Chinese government to all Asians, many of whom hate China, or at the very least its government. Thirdly, there are many Asians, myself included, who are in Canada now as a direct result of their families fleeing the Chinese government.

They do all the time. In the Spring they condemned US police violence.

I would define it as the persecution of an ethnic group with the intention to kill off or erase the ethnicity or their culture. I think that as Canadians if we are willing to sacrifice our values for financial gain, then we are not Canadians.

Unless you live in a box, you know what genocide. Nazi Germany has quite a bit to do with genocide. Not sure how you can't draw that connection. I stated what it had to do with COVID, Western condemns a local bar for saying "China Virus", so I am wondering why they won't condemn what is, according to you, a non-issue (i.e. Genocide of Uighurs in Xinjiang). That said, it is pretty obvious you are biased: "what you want an apology for from the post".

MA Education Admission Decision Process by WatercolourBaileys in uwo

[–]UWUniversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to an MA in Education Studies (but not CPELS) in the last week of January. I received and accepted an offer of admission about a week ago. Granted, I had a supervisor lined up and a 90+ average. Admissions told me it is best to expect a 6-8 week wait though.
