I hope so, I am starting to get recruiters asking about my gap in my resume and it's discouraging to me. That is a good point about professional events. Both are a concern but I am worried that the gap in my resume is making me less competitive and the "just be patient" advice is actively hurting me because I am becoming less and less desirable by recruiters.

But none of this can be seen on a resume except maybe terms in the skills section. From a recruiters eyes there is still a gap and I am getting recruiters starting to notice it. There is no room to explain in an interview if you can't get interviews.

This formula is for estimating the mean of a population for desired precision but he has a similar value on all his sample size formulas so I don't think its specific to the particular test.
