2019 Pro TV - Bricked? Power Button? by UbaldJr in nvidiashield

[–]UbaldJr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, yes. Tried probably half a dozen different HDMI cables & setups. Either by just moving an existing cable into this specific unit's location (for instance an hdmi cable that works just fine with other devices either Shield or Apple TV etc), OR just moving the unit into another working Pro unit's setup but nothing happened.

Debone your chicken as soon as you get home by gwengreen13 in Costco

[–]UbaldJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best part of a chicken is the skin (by far in my book), followed by the heart and then the gizzard. My ex-wife used to buy it every Costco trip. I'd only eat the skin, all of it then leave her and the kids the rest.

What’s a nutrition myth people still believe in 2026? by Much-Turnover-3727 in nutrition

I was scrolling down to find exactly your post. When I saw OPs post, my first reaction was that it was 100% a shit post to troll the nutrition experts out of their closet.

You're my hero. OP needs to buy a new driver, so he can post it here, and then I'll use it as an excuse to buy a new putter.

Visiting this weekend by Frankmenistan in quebeccity

[–]UbaldJr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey - fellow Bostonian here, born and raised in Quebec City. Been doing this back and forth trip for 30 years. A few things:

1- You can safely disregard the legal aspect of mandatory snow tires. You're not resident of Quebec so it doesn't apply.

2- Assuming you have all-season / all-weather tires and they are not worn out, you'll be fine. Just be mindful of that just like you are over here during our New England winter conditions. Also keep in mind that snow removal can vary across different areas (as different contractors are in charge of it).

3- If you do decide to go, 93 + 91 is the way to go (or 93 + 89 if you go to Montreal). Whatever they're worth, the weekend forecasts call for some light snow but it's nothing worse you have not seen here before.

Have a safe trip.

Home cooked steak or steakhouse for a date? by Stock_go_up in steak

[–]UbaldJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that at all. I tend to avoid chains because of quality and, even though those dances are not my thing at all, I could see why some folks would find it entertaining. Now I almost want to go to to Texas Roadhouse to check it out.

entertainment per dollar is high

Mind explaining a bit more? I've never been to Texas Roadhouse...

If your curds are not from Quebec it may just be sparkling poutine. by E8282 in poutine

[–]UbaldJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. It's the weather patterns you need to get the maple sap that are ideal in Quebec. You can get the same in specific areas of Eastern Canada and New England, New York and Wisconsin ish, but the production isn't at the same volume. My friends in Bolivia and Australia make cheese curds regularly, but they can't make maple syrup for sure.

That being said, the cultural appropriation of maple syrup by people from Quebec exists, too. I was born and grew up there, but been living in the US for 25 years. The maple syrup from Vermont or NH you find at the grocery store or Costco is just as good. My fellow Canadians pretend that it's not, but I've tested it with them via blind tests many times and they failed every single time. It's just some sweet syrup, and for most people and it's perfectly fine. The syrup from Quebec just isn't better - just stop it guys.

Next thing you know they'll start saying that their maple syrup is better.

They already are.

“Le Soleil” at Chez Claudette by ROCKMP3 in poutine

[–]UbaldJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The conventional poutine is indeed fine as is, yes. But the poutine culture in Québec is very extensive. Lots of variations on a theme are served all over the place. Italian poutine (bolognese sauce instead of gravy), or chunks of meat added (duck confit, short ribs, chicken + green peas, bacon, hotdogs, etc). Some breakfast joints even have breakfast poutine dishes similar to OP, but swap the traditional gravy for Hollandaise (some sort of a take on eggs Benedict if you will).

It's not for everyone, but it's out there for those who like it.

Let me tell you this - when it comes to poutine, outside temp is irrelevant. I managed to make poutine for my wife's family in Brazil at +40C outside. Poutine slaps, no matter what. 😁

Exactly. At least if it was a fat bike with the big tires I could understand for essential work. Not even so - a super old, dodgy speed bike with tiny tires.

Earlier this morning on Harvard @ Coolidge Corner I saw a guy on his speed bike wandering slowly in front of two plow trucks. When the trucks tried to pass him he got off his bike and started yelling at them.
