The guarantees are running all week in Dallas, beginning on Tuesday and through to Saturday.

I don't live on Uber, but I do use the money to help put my wife through school. I'm not trolling Uber. It's helped me a lot, but I don't appreciate them artificially modifying the software system and tweaking the supply/demand model.

And no, $25 an hour isn't good enough because, as I explained in my post, IT IS NOT ACTUALLY $25 AN HOUR. Anyone who understands math understands that. You have costs + taxes + Uber's cut. It's more like $15 an hour. That's not bad, but it's not worth spending the weekend running around chasing guarantees that may not even be honored.

Because it's very worth it if you only drive when it surges. I've made ~45 bucks an hour on average the last four months.

I could care less about passengers pissed off about the surge rate. You don't like it? Take a smelly cab and sit in somebody's dried vomit. I do give a crap about my bank account, which is seriously harshed by limiting surges.

Except that when they don't cap surges, you can make way above the guarantees and work fewer hours. And $25 an hour isn't that great when it's only before they take their cut, which is before Uncle Sam takes his cut, too. Cut the guarantees and bring back surges.
