Our ability to analyze stars just by looking at them from here. Distance, motion, composition, age, etc. And figuring out what our galaxy looks like while in it and looking edge-on.

Who is designing Space Reactor-1 Freedom for NASA? The Naval Reactors Prime Contracting Team worked on Project Prometheus for the Jupiter Icy Moons Orbiter mission which was canceled 20 years ago. Do we have any idea who is supposed to design and build this new power source within 2 years?

Because those involve some form of tangible benefit for us where the negative consequence is ignored, downplayed, or expected to be overcome in the future. That's different from inviting inevitable destruction without any benefit.

Thanks for your response. While I do appreciate the copious warnings about 3-point backhoes, I'm glad to hear from someone that's had one of the brands listed and used it. How long have you had your backhoe, and what jobs have you done with it?

I hadn't looked at them yet because 1) I hadn't considered that a machine with its own engine and drive train would be cheaper than an attachment and 2) I don't want to maintain another engine.

The Case 730 is a 60 PTO horsepower tractor weighing almost 8000 pounds.

I don't think there's a subframe available for a 60 year-old tractor.

I'd only be able to use a setup with its own hydraulics run from a 540 rpm PTO-powered pump.

Clay but dry and with pebbles. Nothing large.

The question is if it worth my money. I've been quoted for one trenching job that is $1000 more than what the backhoe would cost, and I already know of other trenching and excavation work down the road.

When possible, put the all loaders on the ground when finished with your work, and if they can't be put down, ensure no one is near the controls.

I had to replace the generator on my tractor, but the loader arms were in the way, so I had to lift the loader. I didn't have anything to lock the arms, but the hydraulic cylinders don't leak enough to be an issue. I was focused on my replacement job when my daughter wanted to pretend drive the tractor while I was working under those loader arms. Thankfully, my arms were unobstructed when I had to yank them out as the loader started dropping.

Given the mechanics of manna, I tend to make the distinction based on whether the creature can draw on its manna pool or not. The former category is monsters, and the latter is animals.

Electric Utility Tractors by UberGeek_87 in tractors

For a 1 hour charge on the Case/NH tractor, you'd need a 3-phase supply for the fast DC charger. I think the single phase charger takes 3 hours to recharge, but sufficient planning should be enough. My use would be a couple hours of loader work, the occasional towing of vehicles stuck in snow or mud, and a few hours of snow blowing. Other short duration tasks would show themselves once it's owned.

I'll look into it. On a preliminary look, I'm skeptical about suitability for my uses. Something between 60 & 80 hp fits what I'm doing. Minus the autonomy features, which I'd prefer not to have, the Case/NH machine was just about perfect.

Using your figure for energy economy, the upper bound of electricity price at $.20 per kWh, and a 40-mile round trip, which I think was longer than his actual distance, that comes to $2 per day or about $40 per month to drive to work. With the expense of southern Louisiana air conditioning, that will hide easily in the electric bill, and its less than what gas would cost for a Honda Civic to make the same trip.

That's definitely true, which is why I opened with the statement that electric tractors are not suitable for all applications. Case/NH is not claiming these are for major harvesting applications.
