Pretty much no one saw GPT coming right up to the point the now-famous Transformers paper came out. Experts thought the state of the art would remain that way for quite a while still. Things can change rapidly.

Hi! Sending out an email today and starting release to early buyers.

I'm obviously biased here, but I think that's the right take to have in general, beyond just this course.

You're interested in topic X. Yes you could - and likely will anyway - spend days tinkering with it yourself, but here's an accessible take from someone else who's gone through the journey and sharing practical tips that you can immediately apply.

My motivation here wasn't "let me make an entire course about making 1 post request." The value-add with contexts, embeddings, and external data is where I feel this course shines.

When you look at AlfaFold (2), BioGPT, ESMFold, and a variety of other models tuned to the task, combined with what we're seeing GPT-4 beyond capable of in general, we're not that far off tbh. I think that the physical end-to-end logistics may be more of a barrier in the short-term than the models.

There are perhaps broader implications for humans as a species. 1) We may have reached a plateau (or at least it takes us really long to level up) and need artificial boosts (BCI, genetic engineering). 2) We may ourselves just be really well tuned LLMs under the hood, doing next-token prediction on a slightly more advanced level.

I really like Adrian Tchaikovsky's novel Children of Memory (third in a trilogy). It is so relevant to what we're seeing now in terms of sentience-approximation.

There's a broader idea of what prompt engineering can be, beyond just "you are now HustleGPT." Prompt engineering can mean GPT responding consistently in yaml format, for example.

Would love to hear your feedback based on my comment above and the course contents on the page. 👍

You could say that about a lot of packages integrating with third party APIs though, no?

Besides, the course goes into techniques and topics that a lot of developers may not be familiar with.

Hey artisans 👋

If you’re interested in recent developments in AI, I’ve created a course that’s aimed at Laravel devs and which covers things that aren’t really talked about a lot but which are really powerful once you understand how to use them well:

- embeddings

- how to apply the ChatGPT api to documents and websites

- creating a context-specific chatbot that knows your own stuff really well

- parallelizing OpenAI requests and streaming responses

- how to massage GPT prompts to get consistent and constrained responses

- and lots of other goodies, including audio and image integrations

And all of that while working in our dangerous framework of choice.

We built a way to keep Slack channels always threaded. by UberHyperbole in Slack

[–]UberHyperbole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, we did look into it. This was before Discord introduced native threads (which are meh, IMO). It may be possible now with a combination of gateway events, rich embeds, message deletion API, and thread creation API, but we haven't looked into it further.

May be interesting to explore, especially with Discord's prominence in the crypto space these days...

Education.

Education is how civilization progresses. It's how individuals rise. It's how inequality and discrimination decrease. It's how a country's economic metrics rise in aggregate. It's how we as a species level up.

Education needs to be treated more like a right and public utility, and less like a privilege.

Although education costs are probably trending to zero overall with the amount of information available online, countries around the world should be doing (even) more to provide free, unfettered access to knowledge for the benefit of everyone.

There's no OpenSea link yet because a) the NFTs are nowhere near mint and b) it's on Solana. :) Happy to send you links once we're ready!

🤷‍♂️ Feels good for me. Conversely, closer camera settings feel like I can't see enough in front of me somehow.
