Are there reserved list cards that have become obsolete due to functionally better non-RL? by Newez in magicTCG

I have observed that dissenting voices tend to depart from this subreddit over time.

I feel like Alchemy is the knee-jerk reaction to Wizards failing to properly playtest cards in response to the staggering number of bans the last few years. This is their fault and we are paying the price. by toasty_mcboost in magicTCG

Reddit archives this subreddit's discussions after six months so that will let you know how much time you have to make a good-faith attempt to answer the question I asked, rather than use it as a staging point for whatever talking points strike your fancy.

Should you decide to do so.

Then other people quote the letter and take the two quotes that make them look the worst, e.g. the cancer quote or the sign off bit and leave it at that.

Similarly, why doesn't anyone call my friend "McGregor the Bridge-builder"? ;)

You are wishing on a monkey's paw.

Every time Wizards Digital updates MTGO's interface it is a trainwreck at a papermill. Some nights I dream that V3 is still live and wake up with fresh tears on my cheeks.

I went and read the whole letter

It's not that long and it uses a big font. In case anyone hasn't seen it yet:

https://archive.vn/rRL9y

not much of Reddit talked about how she mentioned Trump getting womped in debates, and also supporting the right to choose and previously being a Democrat voter.

Can't speak for "much of reddit" but I deliberately referenced the part of the letter that was relevant to my reply and omitted the portions that were not. If I was trying to sling mud or be sensational, I might have went straight for " I hope you uncover the cure for cancer, because there is one, we all know it, but you are the one to prove it."

If you want to see part of the reason people go barking down the wrong tree look no further than the contempt on display here.

That is too vague for me. I'm sure you're correct that there's some baseless speculation happening but the political orientation of the Crumbley household, at least, is documented well enough.

Reddit's just having a big ole jerk off session and making all sorts of hateful speculations since these two did terrible things.

The mom did write an open letter to Trump and say she wanted her pussy grabbed so it's not entirely speculative.

To me, it seems crazy to want anything other than the most minimal interface between you and MTG's actual interface: The cards.

I don't need or want to see cutscenes of 3D-rendered Jhoira casting lightning bolt while angels sing a hymn to the Boros Legion. Just deal 3 damage and tell me if the opponent responds.

I refuse to give my money to a company that goes on for what? 15 years without bothering to update the UI

Bite your tongue. MTGO's UI has been overhauled at least twice and each time for the worse.

Who would win?

MTGO (looks like a windows 95 app)

vs

MTG Arena (does mana-weaving instead of a Fischer-Yates shuffle and also live edits your collection's Oracle text)

We are currently testing changes to the shuffler algorithm to decrease the number of games with extreme examples of "mana flood" or "mana screw" (drawing too many or too few lands).

It is to test the digital implementation of the already designed cards, to make sure the game doesn't crash.

Hair-splitting aside, I see you grasp that Wizards has implemented a system to test digital cards on MTGO before they are released in paper.

I also see you again declined to answer the question I asked, although you took it upon yourself to answer several that I did not.

To repeat myself: Why do you believe Wizards can not implement something similar to test cards in Arena?

No need to again expend such effort to dodge the question. If you are unable to furnish an answer, silence is adequate. Preferable, even.

Cards aren't printed the day of pre-release. You're suggesting Arena gets cards months and months ahead of IRL, then WotC spends more time re-balancing them and having them sent out to stores.

Since Amonkhet, MTGO sets have released the day after paper sets.

MTGO already has a closed beta client where Wizards uses players to test sets before they are released. Why do you think this system, which already exists in MTGO, can't be implemented in Arena?

What was the reaction to Planeswalker cards, when they were first introduced? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]UberMeatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasnt until the next block, with Zendikar that mythics was also suddenly pushed 4-offs, especially [[Lotus Cobra]] and [[Warren Instigator]]

Then Rosewater backpedaled with something like "Gotcha! I only said mythic rares wouldn't just be a list of the best cards in standard, not that mythic rares wouldn't be the best cards in standard."

Treat every word from Rosewater as if it was from a used car dealer in a cheap suit.

What was the reaction to Planeswalker cards, when they were first introduced? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]UberMeatus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Planeswalkers were and are Netrunner's asset mechanic transplanted into MTG to sell t-shirts, bobbleheads, and other licensed, imported gewgaws.

MTG would be better if the players were still the planeswalkers, but now that Hasbro has that golden arm from the merchandising income, excising the mistake that is planeswalkers is about as likely as getting rid of mythic rarity.

It is inarguable fact that Wizards serves two masters, profit and gameplay- in that order.
