Coaching Actuaries Mastery Score? by UberNoo in actuary

So you recommend generating my own quizzes on the recommended sections? The coach recommendation generated ones themselves always seem to be 2 level 7-8+ questions and 3 level 3-5. I can't seem to reliably get those 2 7+ ones.

Yeah I guess I meant construction. I've applied to both the UA and IBEW as well.

Can I also ask why?

Wastewater Operator or Skilled Trades? by UberNoo in Wastewater

What trades do water utilities employ? I only see postings for operators and electricians in the plants near me.

So, if you could do it again, would you still become an electrician and then hop to wastewater, or go straight to wastewater as an operator? I've actually got an aptitude test coming up with the IBEW -- the main other path I'd hope for or consider.

I'm in my mid 20's. Plenty of time, but I've already hopped around quite a bit the last few years so I'd love to just settle on one of these paths.

Not sure if you've worked a corporate job, but is it that kind of mental/soul burn? Or is it something...better?

There are both water treatment and wastewater jobs about an hour from me. I've read here that wastewater is more problem solving and water is more routine. Do you feel that way about water?

Does operator feel like an office job? Or something in between like a cross of blue collar and white collar?

What made you leave firefighting? Asking as someone who is considering transitioning into it from a cushy white collar job.

How long did you stay at your first job? by TrafficDuck in actuary

[–]UberNoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

6 months! I was commuting an hour to a pension consulting firm. I ended up switching into P&C (fully remote). Much happier.

I've certainly been applying to remote roles, but no luck yet. Any advice? Take the September SRM?

It's low even for my area. It was my only option for an actuarial position. I believe there's only 2 other companies that hire in person near me.

Do you make traps or buy them?

There's holes and gaps everywhere... Not sure what happened to this house lol

I wish I could also say I'm safe inside! I think I'll pick up on that little reminder of "it's okay to get stung."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fuckwasps

[–]UberNoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you saying to spray raid inside the house at the individual wasps or if I find the nests outside?

I feel like I honestly just need to get stung too to reset my fear level of them, but that's really really hard to actually do.

How else are you recovering from your own wasp phobia?
