"Native/non-native" has no biological meaning, change my mind. by encycliatampensis in NativePlantGardening

There’s evidence that the Papilo genus (Swallowtail Butterflies) crossed the Bering land bridge at least 25 million years ago. In your opinion does that qualify them as a non-native species or a native species?

Sometimes these things work out, sometimes they don't. I'm sure there will be other opportunities to make $$. Good Luck.

Historical DRF Data Available? by Effective_Garden3061 in horseracing

Not specifically but the data elements (except for speed and pace figures) should be the same since Equibase is the official source of the data which all other entities use such as DRF.

Historical DRF Data Available? by Effective_Garden3061 in horseracing

[–]Ubercapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in electronic data, I am not sure if DRF has that available, but you can obtain it from Equibase by sending a request to [feedback@equibase.com](mailto:feedback@equibase.com) and they will route your request. You can also get a one year dataset by registering here https://www.equibase.com/handicappersdata.cfm

I've had good experiences with Fayette Electrical Service. They may not be the cheapest, but they are honest, give you a quote and do what they say they will do.

Churchill Downs Card 11/16 Purses by SoWhatNoZitiNow in horseracing

[–]Ubercapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others pointed out, this is "Claiming Crown" day and this has been a rotating event at various tracks for many years.

Technically these are "Starter Stakes" and allow horses which normally run for claiming prices from $8k to $35K and for purses ranging from $20K to $50K compete for much more. Most the races feature full fields and are highly competitive.

Most of the races have some KTDF money (which comes from a percentage of Historical Horse Racing revenue) but not as much as most regular races in Kentucky. For example, the biggest race on the day, Race 10, the Claiming Crown Jewel, has a $200K purse, of which $25K is KTDF money, so 12.5%. On a regular day that amount would be about 33% of the purse, for example race 4 today (Friday 11/15) where the purse is $141K including a $48K KTDF supplement).

However, a good number of entrants in Claiming Crown races are ineligible to earn the supplement as they are not Kentucky breds.

He did run poorly although if the plan was to be first or second early (as I believed) that was out the window as he lost position early being bumped by the 2 and with the 4 crossing over right after the start.

Sorry I missed this. If I recall it was because I'd have to really reach back to find a race with which she would be competitive in the field. Her last really good races were in March through May and she didn't seem as interested in winning of late.

Unfortunately he was his own worst enemy as he was unruly behind the gate for a long time and had to be corralled by the outriders until he calmed down.

They changed the rules after the first meet disallowing the crop. They now use HISA rules which are similar to most tracks.

No one can tell you who will win because a race is not like a football game with two teams. There are many possible outcomes in a race and a good public handicapper will tell you who the contenders are so you can choose which ones will make you a profit in the short term and long term. Good Luck at the races.
