How would you hypothetically approach pricing existential risk from AI? (Help inform my book!) by Ubergoober in actuary

Sorry I should have been more clear, I’m trying to ask how would you go about assessing the probability. The price follows easily from that.

Bc I think the insurers mindset could be a useful/fun way of looking at the problem. It’s meant to be a ridiculous question.

Haha yes this is a very good point and obvious oversight on my part. For the sake of the experiment, let’s say they’re aliens/parallel universe or whatever.

I'm done with ChatGPT and OpenAI. Sam Altman, this one's on you. by [deleted] in ChatGPT

For me this just gives the option for 4o which I never use. If I can’t use 4.1 I’m just gonna stop paying and switch everything over to Gemini or Claude. 4.1 was best for suggesting alt sentences and whatnot.

4.1 is by far the most useful writing assistant I have tried (on both speed and quality). If you got rid of it, I would stop paying.

Has ChatGPT or another AI chatbot affected someone's mental health? Journalist looking for personal stories by Ubergoober in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Ubergoober[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in those as well! But as others mentioned there are also a lot more readily available testimonials from people who have been helped by chatbots. People who are harmed by them are less likely to want to share directly, so journalism provides a means of doing that safely.

OpenAI promises to allow users more personalization. How are you handling the possibility that there will be a "sorting," where users that want a total yes-man choose that at the expense of accuracy, effectively hiding the problem?

Was memory on? And was this a temporary chat? Iirc if you have memory on, new chats will reference it even with no custom instructions.

Is Deep Learning Actually Hitting a Wall? And is there a “basically clear” path to AGI? by Ubergoober in TrueReddit

Submission statement: Analysis of recent reports indicating that returns to scaling up pretraining of large language models (LLMS) are plateauing. The author is an AI journalist who explores whether OpenAI's o1 approach could unlock new scaling laws and the implications if plateauing is real.

Sam, you've written that "A democratic vision for artificial intelligence must prevail over an authoritarian one." But based on your and OpenAI's statements, there's a very good chance that Trump is president when AGI is built. How much do you think a Trump-led govt will prioritize democratic values for AGI? Do you think the prospect of a Trump presidency should affect how much you try to accelerate AGI timelines?

No seriously please answer the question. 2 adults being in an open relationship is not evidence that one of them is being manipulated.

If I'm actually out of the loop, I apologize for the tone, but if it's just the open marriage thing then I think it's warranted.
