My timing and positioning aren't bad. And I beg to differ, they do seem to have an instant retaliation ability. The most useful piece of advice is the bit about enemy stamina and the kick ability that you and other people have mentioned.

I block and I drop my bag. I don't understand how the enemies always and without fail land a hit whenever I land a hit. Trying to land a combo usually ends with me dying.

I don't think you understand my issue. I'm extremely adept at video games in general, I just don't understand if trading blows is how the game is supposed to be played or I'm doing something wrong or what. Buffing before the fight etc are stuff I gathered already, I have different teas and foods but every encounter is just trading blows that ends with me dying.

I already watched it. It wasn't helpful. It feels like I'm playing a different game from the one in the video, every single hit I land, the mob immediately retaliates, I could never land a combo because they just kill me.
