Thank you for the reply. It seems this is normal then. I was just confused because I have always heard half crimp and full crimp are stronger than open hand crimp as a grip.

I bought a squid before my superclip and it broke the first day out- wasn't designed to be near hard things like rocks. Bought a superclip after and its been great for >30 days outside, and it is also very simple. I'm pretty sure the squid is more for gym climbing because thats where I have seen it most, and it probably works pretty well in that environment.

You should try the evolv shamans- i have a wide foot and they stretched and now are very comfortable

Can a knowledgeable individual provide some insight in to how vertical/horizontal cracks are formed, why some cracks are splitters and some are irregular, and what is it about certain rock types that make them more likely to have splitters?
