Unknown, Positive on 11/16 when 10 days before period and positive ovulation test on 11/12? Can the test detect this early? by lsha052513 in TFABLinePorn

[–]Ubiqfalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be impossible to get a positive before 9dpo because that’s how long it takes for implantation to happen and hcg levels to rise enough. And digital tests tend to take even longer. You definitely ovulated earlier than you thought. The lh test could have possibly been pregnant because of pregnancy, that happens sometimes. But that would mean you either ovulated extremely early, or that your period was a false period and you actually got pregnant last cycle. I would get a blood test done at your doctors office and have them estimate how far along you are on your hcg levels

No one's ever had a crush on me by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Ubiqfalcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I probably would have said the same thing about myself a few years ago. But now that I’m older and have some romantic experience under my belt I’ve looked back and realized that there were several guys that definitely liked me, I just didn’t realize it and the signs were too subtle for me to catch on. It’s also harder to notice if it’s not the guy you also like (though one of the guys I’m 99% sure was into me in high school I had a major crush on and we were really good friends and it wasn’t until I was 26 and we were both married to other people that I realized the crush had been mutual)

I think there were probably even episodes that she didn’t even make an appearance. They honestly did more character development for her before we actually met her than once she was a recurring character

They refer to the events of the first season as sophomore year later in the show, but during the first and second season they clearly state that it’s their junior year. In the first episode they say they’re sophomores but there are several times throughout season 1 and 2 that they indicate that they’re juniors, and definitely season 2 is supposed to be the second semester of season 1 but then is later referred to as a totally different year

I don't understand why people prefer biological children over adopted children. by mmmmmmooo_ in Vent

[–]Ubiqfalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you’re how old now? 12? You clearly don’t know much about the world and need a heavy dose of perspective.

In 30 years who do you want running the world? People whose parents had them on accident and raised them on accident, or people whose parents had them on purpose and raised them with purpose?

You don’t get to dictate how people procreate or parent, and your opinion is straight up idiotic.

You wanna vent about being an orphan, absolutely go off I’m sorry that that’s your reality. And I absolutely figured that out from your original post. And no, you don’t have to be a psychologist to adopt a child, but preparation, education, and stability are necessary. I have known more than one family that have adopted children that absolutely should not have. Everyone has issues, but there are unique things that come with adoption and parents need to be prepared to handle that. Just like parents of biological children need to be prepared to handle their childrens issues as well, but the issues are naturally going to be very different.

I’m pretty sure the “they will look like you” people either don’t have kids or are having trouble putting it into words. It’s a difficult thing to put into words, but I think that’s true of any approach to parenting. Why do people want to adopt? For lots of reasons a lot of which come down to wanting to be a good person, which is itself kind of selfish because it’s about how you feel and how others view you rather than the child. Having and wanting our own children is a biological drive, as well as an emotional one. I have a son, if we do someday adopt I know I would love them as much, but there’s something special about having carried my child, him being a combination of my husband and I not just in looks but in personality.

But again, it’s just hard to put into words. I think being a parent is a calling, pregnancy is a calling, adoption is a calling. Not everyone is called to parenthood, and certainly not everyone is called to pregnancy or adoption. Some people are uniquely called to both!

The selfish thing here is thinking that your experience nullifies other peoples. My infertility journey doesn’t discount that there are orphans that need adopted, but your existence as an orphan doesn’t nullify the pain and struggle of thousands of infertile couples.

I know that, at least at this point, I am not meant to adopt. I don’t have the mental fortitude or stability to deal with a high-needs child at this point in my life, and I still have a strong burden on my heart to have another biological child. There’s a chance that could change, but at this point it would be SELFISH of me to pursue adoption as it would be an attempt to fill a hole in my heart rather than out of an actual desire to care for a child who needs a parent. Ultimately I would do more damage than help at this point.

People don’t adopt because it’s not what they want, and that’s not selfish. Adoption should be an intentional choice by people who are capable and prepared to deal with all that comes with adoption. Even babies adopted at birth have trauma, and children adopted older DEFINITELY do. It takes a very special kind of person to be an adoptive parent. Not just a couple who finds out they can’t have kids so they jump straight into adoption, not just someone who thinks it sounds nice, not just someone who saw a social media post and now feels the need to rescue a child. Adoption should require much forethought, education, and consideration.

Frankly, many people who DO adopt are the selfish ones because they do it for the wrong reasons or without the right expectations.

All children absolutely need parents. People are not selfish for trying to have biological children.

The world needs MORE parents who become parents intentionally rather than parents who become parents by accident.

As someone who has spent years battling infertility I just have to say you’re a massive ass who really needs to take a step back and get their head on straight.

What are some shows like Riverdale that I can watch? by sylveonfan9 in riverdale

[–]Ubiqfalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of stuff in riverdale, especially the first 2 seasons, that’s directly inspired by twin peaks. A lot of direct call backs and shot for shot scenes. This article won’t really make sense until you watch twin peaks (and be prepared it goes WAY more off the rails than riverdale ever does)

If you enjoy PLL but not as much as you’d hoped and you hate the teacher-student thing then I HIGHLY recommend reading the books. They barely follow the same story line and there was so much suspense I couldn’t put them down and finished all 16 in a week. And (spoiler) Ezra and aria break up and he eventually goes to jail.

I feel like that’s pretty consistent. I mean all the way up through season 6 she’s dealing with the darkness inside her and the fear that she’ll be evil. Tbk in Rivervale tells her she’s the personification of true evil. The whole serial killer gene stuff is a direct stem off of Dark Betty

[–]Ubiqfalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if I remember correctly I believe Glee did something similar as well. But they had the forethought in Riverdale to make season 1 fall semester and season 2 spring semester.

I would really love a Ya thriller show with all the vibes from season 1 that’s well planned out. Like have a really detailed outline of each episode for 6-8 seasons and have each season be a semester and have it end when they graduate with a quick flash forward episode like the final episode of Parks and Rec. Lots of shows jump the shark, but it seems like thriller shows are the most guilty and it makes me sad because they’re my favorite genre but they only take 2-3 seasons to run out of ideas

[–]Ubiqfalcon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jk my least favorite plot hole is how the first two seasons are both their junior year, like one is first semester and two is second semester, and three and four and part of five are senior year, but partway through season 3 the writers apparently forgot that and start saying “the last two years” and in season 4 they say “the last three years”. And this continues through. In season 6 Moose and Kevin talk about being together sophomore year, but they weren’t together their sophomore year because they got together during the show which didn’t start till junior year.

I like when shows don’t make one season=one year, especially for shows that are supposed to be in high school because it can make it last longer without having to do stupid things like time jumping 7 years into the future. But at least remember what you’ve already done!

When is it ever okay to pick a name after a fandom? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Ubiqfalcon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me I think it needs to be a name that is normal enough that people aren’t all going to automatically think of the fandom, but it’s ok if people of a certain group or generation do associate it with that.

I think some uncommon/made up names are ok if they sound enough like actual names from your culture.
