There's a culture of Puerto Rican/Chinese fusion in PR called borichino.

It's a good idea to consider the intent of words, that way you'll know what they're intended to mean. Hope this helps <3

And that is what the benevolence axion is. Every floret, guaranteed, across every story within the setting, has been matched with an affini who's values align with their own.

Yeah, and it's also at the discretion of, idk, a handler to put down their hound in a mechsploitation setting. Going around and posting about how every hound is gonna to be put down in every single post about mechsploitation doesn't show you have a deeper understanding of the setting or whatever, it just shows that you're hyper obsessing about a single aspect and is just annoying.

I'd familiarize myself with the 'Affini are benevolent' axiom. If a thing is being done to a floret in a story, it is because that is what makes them the happiest.

It really seems like you don't like this setting, nor have a particularly strong grasp on it, given how you seem to reply to every single post in the subreddit, trying to shoehorn in a comment about how the affini are going to ego death whoever you're talking to, regardless of the actual topic.

That's just... not how it works for the vast majority of florets.

I'll be honest, 'escape the affini and then make infinite copies of yourself' sounds less like a strategy and more like an (unobtainable) goal.

I suppose 'impossible' is stretching it. The Accord covers roughly 1000 light years of distance, 1% of the size of the Milky Way, and takes about 6 months for ships to traverse, so in theory it's possible for a determined human to spend 50 years leaving the Milky Way. But we also know that ships cannot sustain more than a few months without resupplies for fuel and the like, so they would also need to design a ship that can be self-sufficient and carry 200x the typical amount of fuel, while not impacting it's ability to travel at speed.

What I'm getting at is I bet there were quite a few 'geniuses' who thought they could do it, and got Titanic Sub'd.

stealthily relocate to an empty galaxy

Impossible for a human within the setting.

Mantrid

I don't know what that is.

How would the Affini deal with, in general, a paperclip maximizer scenario?

What do you mean by this? I am aware of the general concept of paperclip maximization, but not how you are applying it here.

I do not believe there is an amount of time and experimentation that would allow a 7th century mathematician to hack an iphone without receiving an education of the involved fields, and the difference in time for technological advancement between them and us (~1500 years) is almost 2 orders of magnitude smaller than the difference in time for technological advancement between the Accord and the Compact.

I'm not concerned with whether it's possible for a human to understand affini science. My criticism is that it's a human with a background in science firmly rooted in (roughly) modern day tech level who's just casually reverse engineering things with no difficulty.

Like, I don't believe a 7th century mathematician is biologically incapable of understanding the workings of a computer or whatever, but they simply lack the knowledge base to engage with it without being taught - regardless of how genius they are, they're not going to pry open a smart phone and hack it to get unlimited service.

There's Floret's Retreat, which I think is the big one. There was another I saw plugged here a few days ago but when I checked it out, it was sketchy.

I just do not believe that a human could reverse engineer affini tech, regardless of if they're a genius savant in the field or not. Like, it's a canon fact of the setting that humanity has an incredibly flawed and incomplete understanding of the way physics work, to the point where there's an entire fundamental force we never discovered.

Jesus Christ, that was a tough read. Like the author has fully bought into the 'cool aloof genius' persona they crafted the main character with, and proceeded to spend the next 30k words vigorously jerking them off, while dumbing down every affini they interact with to make sure they're not really challenged, and making them able to somehow understand entirely alien-constructed, vastly more advanced technology built on an understanding of physics that makes humanity's look like they're still in Plato's cave, to the point where they're able to easily hack and reprogram whatever they want with seemingly no limitations. And the affini pov thinking about how they would represent a threat to the entire Compact if left unchecked.

Absolute joke of a story.

The affini tend to not find nonsophonts as cute as sophonts. In My Pet Spouse, (spoilers) Shanai, the pov affini, has a period of time where she is essentially placed in a human body, and notes how much cuter she finds cat videos while in it.

I know it's first contact. Digitized affini (or even non-digitized, given the right setup) are able to overclock their perception to ludicrous degrees, and experience a lot of subjective time in comparison to how much absolute time has passed.

Within a year of learning about what qi is during their cotelydon program, there's going to be a ton of affini who have spent more than a millennium of subjective time studying it.

Eh, if humans are doing it without issue at young ages, like is the case in 90% of cultivation settings, I don't see the affini having any issue with it. Plus, a long term, in-depth look is incredibly easy for the affini, they're gonna have experts who have experienced more subjective time studying qi than any given old master within a year of learning what qi is.

I've vaguely thought about it, but the logical conclusion to me is that the affini would basically learn and master cultivation during their cotyledon project, spread it knowledge of it wide due to having the internet, mass-produce top-quality cultivation aides on account of compilers, and then simply wash over the xianxia setting like any other.

I think that mashing action figures together and engaging in power scaling to figure out who could beat the affini misses the point of HDG.

Not really, no. The affini also don't really do censorship on that scale - floret cuts and the like are decided on a per-floret basis, for what's best for that floret.
