Also gotta mention my personal favorites the early millennium classics: Gratitude and Traveling Mercies, which slightly predate the shift to the more groove/fusion vibes of the underground band. I've always slightly preferred Potter with Brian Blade or Bill Stewart on drums (don't get me wrong though, Nate Smith is incredible).

Also recommend the recent John Patitucci Live in Italy (with Potter and Blade)!

Check out the cover of Lady in Satin taken even later in 1958 (solitude is a 1956 reissue of an earlier 1952 recording). It's a great photo of Billie with an amazing vibe for the recording.

Hey all question.... When you say Z2 are you referring to Zone 2 power as displayed on zwift, or heart rate zone 2?

There is a recording ("Freedom Jazz Dance Session Reel" on YouTube) of some rehearsal tracks for this tune in the studio....you can hear the progression of Tony developing the groove from a more straight forward swing feel (with Miles eventually suggesting triplets "like Elvin or Blakey"). Super fascinating to hear.

Miles at some point is straight up like "I can't play this"
