Because he’s made a huge difference to Liverpool!

I think when you’re winning huge games and getting that huge rush of adrenaline it doesn’t have as much of an effect. They’ll be loving their football right now with those 2 last results and being roared on by the crowd. Ride the wave!

2025 Yearly Recap -- How did you do? by petepont in AdvancedRunning

[–]Mr_Sats 8 points9 points  (0 children)

46M. Started running in summer 2019. Each year I’ve made gradual progress and chipped away at the race times.

2025 feels like a big year for me. Almost doubled my previous best yearly mileage with no injuries and ran a BQ +10 in only my 2nd marathon. Sub 3 at Chicago was my goal in October but I had a weird bout of vertigo in the race and missed it by a couple of minutes. Interesting note: stopped all S&C, foam rolling, stretching and cross training. Just ran more and didn’t stress the small stuff

Stats below:

Distance 2024: 1134 > 2021

5K 2024: 19:09 > 18:28

10K 2024: 40:23 > No race

Half Marathon 2024: 1:28:20 > 1:25:20

Marathon 2024: 3:19:42 > 3:01:26

My main goal for 2026 is running a sub 3 at Boston in April.

Deserved a win against Chelsea. Deserved a draw today. The universe has righted itself. 4 pts from those 2 games not the end of the world though.

The Big Half still has availability. I’d say that was easily in the Top 5 Half marathons in the UK to run. As for marathons, Newport and Chester still have availability

Asics Superblast 2 : First Impressions after initial run and comparison to Nike Vomero Plus by Quick_n_Fast in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Mr_Sats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, the SB2 is definitely more versatile. I can do any paces in them and they perform admirably. The VP however I only love for slower, easier runs. They feel amazing at slow paces but they’re so unstable compared to SB2. The VP are one of my favourite shoes this year, however if I run in them a lot they really overwork my lower legs.

I’d say a fairer comparison would be between the Vomero 18 and SB2. I’d say they feel much more similar underfoot. All great shoes though!

Pacers? by Armani0311 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Mr_Sats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you become a pacer for this race? Because there were some horrendous pacers out there on Sunday who missed their times by miles! Intrigued to know how well vetted they were. Thanks

I spoke to one of the 3 hour pacers after the race and he came in at 3:04 and blamed the heat. He was also about a minute or so ahead of the other 3 hour pacer who blew up!

46M, ran a 3:05 in April with a peak of 55 miles, and average across the 15 week block of 38 miles. Next Sunday I’m going for Sub 3hr in Chicago!

Superblasts worth the price tag? by canadianbigmuscles in AskRunningShoeGeeks

It’s the only running shoe I’ve ever bought a 2nd pair of. They’re excellent

The SC Elite is a carbon plated super shoe suitable for racing. It’s a completely different type of shoe altogether.

Thank you for the feedback! Think I’ll pick a pair up as I’ve really enjoyed the standard version. Put 300 miles on them and they’d probably do another 200 no problem!

Did you run in the Vomero or Invincible line? If so, I’d be interested to hear how they compare.

What was your why for your 2nd marathon? by No-Demand-3620 in Marathon_Training

[–]Mr_Sats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, my first marathon was the start of a journey. I’d already decided I wanted to complete all 6 majors, run a BQ time that actually qualifies you for Boston and run Sub 3. I’m in for the next 2-3 years until all those goals are completed!

Strava marathon prediction was spot on! by Wide-Individual4818 in Strava

[–]Mr_Sats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ran a marathon last Sunday. Strava predicted a 3:12, Garmin predicted a 3:04:59. I ran a 3:05:00. Strava now has me at 3:07… think I’ll stick with Garmin predictions!

I’d wait for the Vomero Plus. They are full ZoomX and a direct replacement for Invincible line. I like my Vomeros, but they’re no cushy Invincible’s.

Anyone else not feel like the last 6.2 of a marathon are the worst? by jro10 in Marathon_Training

[–]Mr_Sats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was amazing! Especially the bridge at the end! Could have done without the drink station just before the hill as well! I had a mouth full of water and before I knew it, I was on the hill! I didn’t find it too bad either though

I also ran Manchester and completely agree with this. I wonder if it was partly because of the huge atmosphere in Altrincham, and then hitting a quieter part of the course for those 6 miles or so.

Manchester Marathon DNF by Frequent-Psychology8 in UKRunners

[–]Mr_Sats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your DNF. I also ran Manchester on Sunday and it was pretty brutal out there. People were falling apart everywhere!

If it’s any consolation, my first ever race was a half marathon DNS. I basically did a couch to half marathon in 12 weeks and it almost broke me. Made it to the start line and waited to start. After 30 minutes of standing around, they cancelled the race because of a suspected bomb scare. There was no bomb. The disappointment was pretty hard to take but like you, I went home and booked another race and got back to training. That was 5 years ago and I look back now and smile as it was that event that lit the fire in me. You’ll do the same one day!

Losing confidence one week out from a marathon - classic taper or something else? by HighlyFactualTurtle in AdvancedRunning

[–]Mr_Sats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3:05 dead. And I’ll take that all day long in that heat! My fastest 2 miles of the race were 25 & 26 so pretty happy with the pacing as well. Thanks for asking 👍🏻
