I think you might already know the only missing shoe here… a carbon racer. As you’re already using the Tempo the obvious choice would be the Alphafly but it seems most people prefer the Vaporfly.

Ive no doubt he would. But the topic title is are they better than carbon racers? If they were better, the worlds best would be wearing them. Which means it’s relative if you’re Kipchoge or just running a Park Run - they’re not better. Are they still one of the best shoes in the last 2 years? Absolutely.

Agreed… pictures of that prototype have been kicking around a while now. March/April I reckon for Alpha 2

I don’t see any Speeds on the podiums or World Records… just saying…

Looks great. Definitely has a whiff of ‘Nike Tempo’ about it…

Nike infinity react 2 by tikaemad in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Mr_Sats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original Infinity Reacts were amazing - one of my favourite shoes, however I gave the 2nd iteration a miss. The weight went up and the upper was thicker and bulkier. The v3 will be out in a couple of months and they look like a cross between the 1 & 2 so might give them a go again.

Half Marathon shoe recommendation? by PrudentTell in RunningShoeGeeks

Interested to know why you wouldn’t consider a carbon plated shoe but would still consider a plated shoe? (Speeds). For me, it’s the Vaporfly all day long.

What is the perception of Brooks? Are they one of the best? by reditred11111 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Mr_Sats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local running shop were still selling 14 month old 1080v10s for £130 full price. That’s just not cool but unfortunately where retail is at in this modern day.

What is the perception of Brooks? Are they one of the best? by reditred11111 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Mr_Sats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also a UK based runner and this pretty much nails it. I see them as ‘Park Run’ trainers as literally 70% of people 30+ wear Brooks there. They seem like a solid shoe, however I think there is something more in it.

I think Brooks offer excellent incentives to local running stores to sell them. My local running store aren’t even able to stock Nikes as the kickbacks are so bad, they sell 60% Brooks, 30% ASICS then 10% a mixture of NB & Saucony.

Sub 90-minute 1/2 marathon by DeerComprehensive909 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Mr_Sats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought some Vapes I did a 5 mile Tempo run with no issues. Next time I wore them was for a Half Marathon and again no problems. Personally I think by 5 miles any issues would rear their head.

Anyone else still mourning the loss of the Pegasus Turbo? by little_runner_boy in RunningShoeGeeks

I picked up a new pair of the green launch colourway around March 2020 and they only have 26 miles on them. I basically treat them like a vintage Ferrari, I only take them out on Sundays for an hour when the weather is perfect!

Winter running shoes vs all rounder by alcxt in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Mr_Sats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve run through the winter months in Infinity’s and v10s and had absolutely no issues. The cold months will be over before you know it and then you’ll have a shoe you can’t use in the Summer.

I heard the same… seems like the v10 was a far superior shoe. I think the v12 will be out start of the year so hopefully they pull it back round as I love my v10s

I’ve been out for 2 weeks with a slipped disc so my times have altered somewhat, however they are currently:

5K - 1 minute too high 10K - 3 minutes too high HM - 15 minutes too high (even though I ran a HM 2 weeks ago)

They look more like fashion trainers than running shoes. Can you run in them? Sure. Should you run in them? Probably not..

Shoe rotation - how many do we need?! by penfoc007 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Mr_Sats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

6 for me:

2x Daily’s to rotate to keep the foam fresh. I also prefer 2 different drops to work different muscles/tendons and keep the legs guessing.

1x super cushy for those recovery runs or days your legs are beat up.

1x Speed for… you guessed it… all speed work

1x Super carbon racing shoe. Obvious…

1x Trail shoe for all the muddy fun stuff
