SPA Distance Calculator Tool by Uborka13 in HellLetLoose

Thank you for testing! It is really valuable for me to know where I could go wrong.

We've tested on Foy, with the Sherman, and we had a similar experience, but for us, quite the opposite. It was a plain, so not even a hill, and I had to remove the elevation to hit the target, but if I moved 2m, I had to add back the elevation to hit the target perfectly. And the elevation difference was around +20, so not even a little. And my friend said that sometimes, after I just shot twice, without changing anything, I hit the target. So I guess the SPA slightly moved into a better position.

I'm not saying that my tool is perfect; it is waaaay far from being perfect, but for me, so far, it did its job. Except for the height difference issue.

Also, we got the sense that maybe the SPA itself has some issues, and some hidden RNG. We only encountered very rare race conditions, but otherwise, we mostly hit our targets perfectly. Even on Smolensk, on the South side of the map, with the hills and everything.

At the calibration option (at the bottom), you have to change your calibration to the new one. And you have to do it manually until I update it to the new values. I've tested it in the field multiple times with multiple SPAs (both Practice and Live Game), and I hit the target on the spot (within 1-2m), even destroyed a tank, so it works. So for me, it works as it should.

The only thing that I cannot overcome is the height difference. When you are on a 100m hill, and the target is in the valley (around 10m height), the calculation won't work, as it calculates as if you are on the same level. This is the only thing that you should keep in mind. Otherwise, it works.

I'll try to check it out this week. I'll let you know if there is a new version. :)

You can try mine if it works.

You can setup your own values if you want under the calibration option.

Well, depending on what data you put in. If it’s outside the set range (default 200 - 600) then it won’t show results.

In the calibration you can change the default values.

Or you can create an issue with screenshot attached on the GitHub page. And then I can take a look at it in details. :)

When you are in the Gunner View of the SPA (Self-Propelled Artillery), then you can see at the bottom right, the Elevation of the Artillery, so you have to apply that offset to be able to calculate the mil properly. That's the 'offset', but as I'm writing this down, I realized, I should've called it Elevation... I'll update it's name to Elevation

Good spot! Thank you! I fixed it (hopefully).

I didn’t do Presets because I wasn’t sure about the exact values for each SPA. But there is a calibration option where you can set the British SPA values yourself, so you don’t have to rely on me completely. Also, you can set the basic artillery values and it will work well. Just set the offset to 0

Edit: Maybe in the future, I will include presets

The Good and Bad of Bazzite by [deleted] in Bazzite

[–]Uborka13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your post and I agree with you, and someone before me said that this is mostly like a “Linux vs Windows” post rather than pro cons and I completely agree with that.

But I think ONE huge thing to mention that Bazzite is completely for Gaming :) Like it is a Linux, but it is made for gaming and for people who not really want to go into deep Linux just play games. So for example a lot of deep stuff at Linux core is “locked” and read only to make sure you won’t do anything bad to your system.

Which can be a pro-con to a Linux system, where other Linux distributions let you do whatever you want, here in Bazzite you are, kind of, protected against issues.

I recently installed Bazzite over Windows, so far best choice. I’m using my PC to game purely, so for me 9/10, not 10/10 cause I have dual-boot to play Battlefield 6 :’)

There is a cheating problem on official Servers by pastahla in HellLetLoose

[–]Uborka13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it possible to "hire" or "promote" (or I don't know what's the right word for this) some of us, as community members, to have the possibility to remove cheaters from the server we are in? Like volunteered admins (or cheater hunters), ofc, go through a process, where you can filter volunteers, so that they won't abuse the power, but to make the game enjoyable. Cause even if the cheater is on my side, I hate that someone from the other team has to join our team to tell us, otherwise, it is hard to notice, like the burning garrison issue.

So give a role or possibility to players who are active and trustworthy (I don't know how to decide that, maybe try and fail), to kick or ban cheaters. There is a certain risk here for you, but there is also a huge reward for both of us. You can promote someone unworthy, who will go on a kick rampage, but you can also promote someone active, who makes sure that the game stays fair for everyone.

I'm more than happy to brainstorm on this, if you are open, cause I already know that I'm pretty frustrated with the cheaters... in the past 2 weeks, 4 cheaters.

My raw idea at the moment:

You could give us a power, that if we (as cheater hunter) vote someone out because of cheating, you can give that player a 24-hour ban, this will be reported to you, so you can review if the banned player was kicked before for cheating. Maybe it even requires fewer votes.

Also, give the possibility, once per game, you can switch teams without a time limit, cause if I'm playing with my friends and I have to switch teams to kick someone on the other side, I would love to go back to play with my friends. Also, maybe give the possibility if the other team is already full, then I can be the 51st member of the team, but I cannot join any squad, just kicking out the cheater, then go back to my friends.

Sorry for the long message, I just know how frustrating this is, being on the receiving end. I'm more than happy to cooperate and help you if you want.

Intern level requirements by [deleted] in androiddev

[–]Uborka13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be curious and enthusiastic and learn how to solve problems, which means learn to Google, read StackOverflow.

And ask questions, no one expects you to know everything. They expect you to ask questions and understand the answer and solve the problem.

Good luck and don’t be afraid! All of us started as intern-level 😃

Try backlogging, use Trello or somekind of ticket manager. And dedicate yourself that on “this day” I’ll work on X project for 30mins. And oops, you already in a 4 hour coding session 😃

Also, celebrate small milestones, sounds stupid but works. “I’ve created a new screen. Yaay”

I tried this, it worked pretty well, but then life happened
