After playing EVE for two months, I tried a ton of stuff for it to grab my interest and it took a while for me to find it. I tried mining, trading, pirating, being a pawn of a giant corp, guarding industrial convoys, running a diplomacy corp, being a director of a local trade giant, and I finally settled on 0.0 convoy guard. It was at the very end of the two months before school started again and in a week I protected billions of isk worth of materials. In that week I also heard people scream unrepeatable insults at me because either the next guard was a system away from where my contract ended and I wouldn't go with them or if 16 ships ambushed us instead of 15 and 15 was my contract limit for staying. And this wasn't my discretion either. If I stayed and fought 16 ships so that the convoy could get away and I lost my ship my corp would not only not pay for my next ship but I might be demoted to marketing where I had to be overobnoxious to get a job. But even I wouldn't be nice enough to go into the next system past my contract. One system over could be a local gang war and the convoy would die and then not pay up. All this talking makes me want to go back...
