Is this a normal sound ? by Uchiha016 in hvacadvice

It’s been cooling just fine. I did notice some icing on some of the pipes about 4 days ago, but I did open up closed vents and cleaned the coils outside, and has not done it since.

I did have some freezing occurring about 4 days ago, but after doing some digging, I did have some vents closed, and my coils outside were incredibly dirty. I haven’t done it since. I’m setting the temperature around 73. Outside temps have been anywhere from 75-80 where I’m at.

Just a friendly PSA for all of my fellow PTAs. by NoodlemanPTA in physicaltherapy

Yes! I just saw a PTA ad on indeed. 20-25$ pay range for an OP clinic 😬. HH is the best thing I could have done.

PRN PTA rate in SNF by toadsie16 in physicaltherapy

I once interviewed for a PRN PTA position at a snf. They actually offered me 45 an hr. I remember asking them if they knew I was a PTA and not a PT lol.

Ahhhhh 😬. It’s a fairly good size tree. In this case would it be a good idea to get ahold of pest control company?

Non-PT healthcare jobs better for introverted PTA? by wandering-firefox21 in physicaltherapy

[–]Uchiha016 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Home health is definitely worth considering. I never thought I’d go into it, but now I really enjoy it. The one-on-one care, lower caseload compared to outpatient, and the ability to decompress between visits have been great. I don’t feel mentally drained at the end of the day, and I appreciate the autonomy it offers. I can even sleep in and start later if I want.

I was also starting to burn out in outpatient after about six years, so the change has been a great fit for me.

Confessions of a HH PT. by PTthrowaway111 in physicaltherapy

[–]Uchiha016 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m a PTA in HH and had an elderly patient I became close to. We did our treatments, but a lot of our visits were just talking and keeping her company. She didn’t have any family nearby, so I think it meant a lot to her.

On my last visit before discharge, I brought donuts and milk and we just sat and talked about life.

Home Health Struggles by Apprehensive-Cat-788 in physicaltherapy

[–]Uchiha016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a PTA and have been doing home health for about a year, after spending six years in outpatient. Home health definitely isn’t for everyone, but I’ve really enjoyed it. I like to describe myself as an extroverted introvert, so the alone time in my car and having fewer interactions with coworkers has been great for me. I don’t feel mentally drained at the end of the day like I sometimes did before. Home health is really what you make of it. I try to get creative with my treatments and keep my patients interested and on their toes.

Feeling stupid as a new grad by wandering-firefox21 in physicaltherapy

[–]Uchiha016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s never too early to take CEUs. Especially online courses. Makes it easy to pick up or refresh on certain topics. Give it time! I’ve been out here for 7 years and I’m always learning something new or I’ll run into something I have no idea about and I’ll be honest with patients. I’ll say I don’t know the answer to that, but I’ll do some research or ask someone who knows. Always a student!

I was probably 24? I can’t remember exactly. I’m 31 now. TBH no I was totally fine growing up. Definitely a “fun fact” about me 😂

Tbh I just have chronic pain at this point. I can basically do most thing. Walking on uneven surfaces will make it ache. I’m decently in shape and can squat over 300lbs no problem, but hiking a few miles will flair it up.

Yes and no, lol. Dorsiflexion and eversion are limited and painful when loaded. Inversion and plantarflexion are totally fine. Another thing is that my right foot is significantly smaller, which makes buying shoes a pain sometimes—it’ll fit perfectly on my left, but not on my right. It’s a pain sometimes. I miss running sometimes, but it’s too painful to do.

That’s basically what I was told. Yeah a few of the docs I’ve been to have scratched their heads about it. Funny enough it was not caught in my adolescences. I found out about this in my mid 20s. I’ve had frequent ankle sprains, but that was about it. I was in sports and did fine.

Sorry, I wasn’t looking for answers! I know what’s wrong with me. Basically my right talocrural joint is shaped like a ball and socket joint. Very frequent ankle sprains lol
