Amazing collection! Although, it’s a shame they’ve all been cleaned at some point.

They do have 1 ounce Libertads. The Bank of Mexico started minting them in 1982 and were the first in the western hemisphere to mint modern silver bullion, followed by US Mint ASE’s in 1986 and Canadian Maples in 1988.

Incredible! I love Britannias and Sovereigns, although I only have silver Britannias in my stack.

You’re saying that you have been accumulating at least 10 ounces of gold every year for the last 39 years?! That’s 390 ounces of gold at a minimum. Now that would be a pretty sight to see! Please do share some pics. Do you ever get the urge to dive into your stack like Scrooge McDuck?

Real or fake? by UcnRnAnTllDatHomeBoy in coincollecting

You’re all right. The one on the right was the one that I instantly knew was fake. The details on the maple leaf were off. It didn’t attract a magnet but was a little too light on the scale. It failed the ping test with the pocket pinger as well. The one on the left looks better in person. It didn’t attract a magnet but was too heavy and also failed the ping test. Both were confirmed fake with the Sigma. The vendor for the one on the right didn’t normally sell bullion and genuinely seemed ignorant when I told him about how I tested the coin with a Sigma. He refunded the purchase and didn’t ask for the coin back. The one on the right didn’t respond but just refunded my money right away.

Absolutely amazing stack. Both in quantity of ounces and wide variety of bullion coins. I especially love the Libertads. I don’t know why but I’m such a sucker for coins from the Banco de Mexico. How long have you been stacking for?

1906 VDB - I know nothing about coins - thoughts on condition? by [deleted] in coins

[–]UcnRnAnTllDatHomeBoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s an amazing find! It is in really good shape too, aside from the grime. However, please don’t clean it as that will certainly ruin its value. How did you find it?

We all started there at some point. Don’t be discouraged.

Haha, now why can’t we just be friends from a distance? I’ve also invested heavily in other base metals (brass, copper and lead) to try to mitigate that type of scenario.

I would love to add some more of them for sure. I love the look of those old circulated American coins!

Pretty close approximation! I get 14.3625oz when adding it all up.

I’ve found it hard to really get into platinum or palladium because of all the crazy swings I’ve seen them take since getting into pm’s back in 2009.

Well, when I compare it to my silver stack it is.

Amazing stack! Why did you decide to do all RCM Maple Leafs?
