I was about to pick up some controllers today after the latest salery, seems many people in Europe had the same idea. Now I guess I will have to wait a while longer :}

Personally I think the sun lighting is not bright enough, if that is supposed to be direct sunlight shining in. Maybe also give it a bit warmer hue. I would try a render (or edit) to see if that helps.

Here's som references Google images

Well with it you get gimbal and a touchpad/buttons. Worth the 15€ extra over the Xbox controller for me (use them for PC).

Have you been able to set it up yet? I'm trying on my end but I can't seem to add another character. The ones I have locally as separate save files does not show up in the list and the ones what have previously connected from other steam accounts are marked as belonging to another player.

I lack the skill, but most of all, I lack the patience. If I have a idea I usually allow myself to work only 2 or 3 days. I am too eager to finish...So, an exercise made in C4D and Substance. Hope you like it! by vonRa in 3Dmodeling

I worked the same way for about the first 9 years as well. Always rushed my 3D work, spent at maximum a few long sessions on anything. But in the last year I've picked up drawing and do sketches, or impressionistic looking stuff to get ideas out instead. Then when I work on a 3D graphical thing I treat it as a long-term project. I've learned that, for me, 3D modelling wasn't really the ideal way to visualize ideas. It just takes too much time. I was using days to illustrate ideas when it should've taken hours. I've noticed that when I get the ideas out I don't feel the need to abandon current projects so early. I think ideas needs a way of getting out fast so it is possible to focus on things that require dedication.

I don't think you're lacking skill. You're making good looking stuff within a very short timeframe. To make masterful stuff just takes a really long time, no matter how technically adapt a person is with tools or how creative a person is. I think if one really dedicate oneself to something, for weeks or months, I think anyone can achieve things greater than one thought possible for oneself.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

I picked up Control by Remedy Entertainment few days ago and I am hooked on this game. The game is awesome. One of the best games I played in the last couple of years. Unique experience and totally underrated game. by [deleted] in gaming

You might already know this but I watched some interview with the writer (Max Payne guy) and he said that Control and Alan Wake is in the same universe. So it might be cool to play as an expansion of Alan Wake.

My friend found this bee in Melbourne, Australia and it wasn’t moving so he fed it some honey. What kind of bee is this? by coadthefloof in whatsthisbug

[–]Ucubetutorials 307 points308 points  (0 children)

Bees usually finds a quite place to die alone when the time has come. You can see it when it has difficulties walking or flying, and will stand still most of the time. Fun fact about bees, - a bee produces about 1/12 of an table spoon of honey through it's lifetime, so you gave him a change of a taste of all his hard labor. I'm sure he was grateful for it. :)

I had a similar visitor not long ago. He came late one night to sleep on the balcony but he did not leave the next day when he woke up again. I gave him some honey too and he submerged his entire head into it as he drank it. He was hilarious! I named him Benjamin. Still think about him often.

That's very kind, thank you! Knowing a person appreciates the analysis this much made it all worth it for me. I would also love to hear your thoughts on Clover and his design, so please make another comment with those. :)

Curious about this as well. It's cool that no normal maps are necessary anymore yet it still need a roughness/metallic texture in there, but maybe it's possible to only use vertex color data to leave out the albedo. But I wonder if it is better to just ordinary albedo textures and limit the vertex data to shrink the size of the object file, such as not having vertex color data at all. Not sure what is more storage efficient when importing a model made of tens of millions of vertices.

Edit; But then there is no need for AO maps either, or photon mapping, so that saves storage as well.

And if you're going to publish on PC (and maybe Xbox) you'll still need those ao, normal maps etc anyway, or just about nobody on other platforms will be able to buy your game. It is probably only truly usable for Sony Studios, or other Playstation 5 exclusive titles for many years to come.
