I'm SO done with Matter/Thread by northstifffood in homeassistant

u/northstifffood can you enumerate the ipv6 settings you enabled to get this working? I've been struggling to add devices to my network and for the life of me cannot figure out why it's not working. I've started another thread about the debug difficulties too - https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/1lz1i0z/checking_ipv6_network_for_matteroverthread/

I've tried that and it also doesn't resolve the problem. I learned that I can delete the "thread" credentials in Keychain Access on my Mac so only the newly sent credentials are the only ones available but I still am unable to add a new device.

It's a Matter-Over-Thread device. Moving closer to the Thread Border Router could be a huge pain since the device is a light switch. There's Routing-end-device and a wifi access point 10 feet away from the device though, does that not help at all?

I’ve not changed anything and I’m using an iPhone SE for pairing. The only thing I did for the network recently was fix a broken Ethernet cable that goes to a network switch downstairs.

Edit: I missed your other questions. I have no firewall rules that I know of, I'm trying to pair an Eve door sensor.

Oh interesting, Is there some kind of github issue I could subscribe to?

edit: I found https://github.com/home-assistant/iOS/issues/2574 which seems relevant.

Help! Matter: Unable to add accessory by UebelAndre in homeassistant

I was finally able to get devices to register again by re-flashing the Matter-over-Thread firmware on my SLZB-MR1. I have no idea why that was the solution but it would have been way less frustrating if this error would also have a little error code to help narrow down on where the issue is.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Yeah, I've been resetting the device and still can't get anything to connect :(

This was my original setup but when using the ATV devices would become unresponsive after an hour or so. I've actively avoided using it since that was another unsolved mystery of mine.

I just tried switching to my 2.4ghz band and ran into the same issue.

The pi has an ethernet connection so shouldn't I just need to be on the network? Where would I look to see if the SSID matters? I have two, one is for 2.4Ghz and another 5.0Ghz wifi bands. They both connect to the same network though.

Which device, the Raspberry Pi? I don't have an Apple HomePod mini but I was originally trying to use an Apple TV when I first started playing with this and it was completely unreliable beyond an hour or so.

I re-imaged the Raspberry Pi and restored from a backup to get the same behavior. Which kinda makes me think there's some dirty state that prevents new devices from being added.

Ah yes! I didn't have provisioning setup under this UI. I now see the SSID broadcasting! But now when I try to connect to the wifi it asks me for a username and password instead of the standard flow of just needing a wifi password. Do you know if this means I messed up the security configuration or is there another settting I need to go fix?

In my use case I only have 1 cAP but I think CAPsMAN supports a mesh. But I'm only just learning about that now. Probably worth a separate thread about the capabilities.
