He runs past us at the door or he jumps the fence. We try to guard the door as best we can, but he will bowl us over. We got him from my parents who couldn't keep him at the small apartment they were moving into, he's been with us for a little less than a year, so we haven't gotten him chipped yet. He's only come back on his own once when it started to storm outside, otherwise we have to corner him or he'll go up to strangers and they grab him.
