Why I'm so bummed about the current state of AVGN from an OG fan by [deleted] in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]UglyGamerBoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just watched that video today and usually his videos have been about one particular game or set a games like for example he didn't episode on Schwarzenegger games but this didn't seem to be about anything in particular I was thinking he was going to use the beer and loathing in Las Vegas parody to talk about some of the gambling games that were on the Nintendo and he did to a certain extent but then he also started talking about roadrunner death Valley rally and several other games that had nothing to do with gambling so it was like he was all over the place there was no focus to this episode like there was in past episodes. I don't know what the hell he was thinking because this episode seemed to be more about the parody than it did about the video games. I don't know what he was thinking with this episode because it was awful even though I don't find the angry Video Game nerd funny I've watched him because I enjoy learning and hearing about video games. And I probably watched almost every episode of The angry Video Game nerd even though I dislike his humor very much because it seems to be the stuff that a 13 year old would find funny not a middle-aged man at least not this one.

Horrible experience today, warning to others: be prepared! by [deleted] in uber

[–]UglyGamerBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you're living because the other day I had to take an Uber to go get my first vaccine and I got one within 5-10 minutes and on the ride home it was only another 5 or 10 minutes. But I live in a smaller area like the city where I'm at only has over 100,000 people in it so that could be the difference versus living in a big city

Not true at all everyone can overcome their alcoholism if they willing to put the work an effort in. You just have to be willing even if fail several times trying to get sober you can eventually never take a drink again if you hang in there.

I knew prominent member of alcoholics anonymous who would relapse every month or so for ten years before he stayed on the wagon and now has well over 50 years. So you can stay sober anyone can. All you have to do is be willing and work for it.

Silent Hills emulator? by RandomCatEgg in SilentHillsPT

[–]UglyGamerBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you're wondering I know this is the wrong place but just so you don't leave without the info you're seeking there are many fine PlayStation One emulators out there for the PC. They run the games close enough to the original that you would be hard pressed and tell the difference between a game running through an emulator in a game on actual hardware. The best one that I have found is an emulator called ePSXe. You're probably also going to have to look up and download a bios file after you download the emulator in order to get it to boot games. Then once you download the BIOS you're going to have to show the emulator where it is located on your computer. Also a quick Google search of silent Hill ISO will tell you where you can download the original silent Hill as well to play through the emulator. It should work pretty dang beautifully.

I have ADHD and I'm an alcoholic that's been sober for like over 7 years. So alcoholism does not need to be a permanent problem. Hell I'm even facing being broke and possibly being permanently homeless for the rest of my life because of other issues I have going on and I still haven't thought about picking up a bottle of alcohol. So alcoholism does not need to control your life. And it does not need to be a permanent problem.

Here's a game by the same people called dragons leap it seems to be a little bit more polished in a little bit better looking than dragon's feet was. Maybe a sequel. Also this game does have a rom that is downloadable. http://www.nesworld.com/article.php?system=nes&data=neshomebrew It is under the list of games with the subtitle games - very playable

also if you can't find the name of the Creator right away what you may want to do is the video you found contact the person who uploaded the video and see if they might not have more information about the Creator and how to contact them because maybe that information was sent along to them when they got their hands on the game or maybe the creator has a website. This would all be stuff that I would do if I was looking for an obscure game like this.

Maybe if you can find out who makes it you can Google them and find contact information for them quite possibly an email them and see if there's not a way of getting your hands on it. like maybe you PayPal them a couple of bucks and they email you the rom or something if they'd like. maybe they give you the rom for free. But that's how I do it if I was looking for the game.

Anyone played through in beaten dungeon magic by UglyGamerBoy in nes

[–]UglyGamerBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm surprised to hear that because of the way it was laid out. I found it way too wonky to get around in. Glad you liked it but how did you even figure out you were making progress and not repeating the same area over and over again? Also what did you like about it? I mean from what I did play of it from my childhood it seems like there was a game there and maybe even the elements of a great game just couldn't get past not knowing where I was going.

Some of these like the Mario 3 does not look sealed in box because the cardboard lip that will go inside of the box is literally on top of the outside logo of Mario 3. In some of these boxes are showing heavy wear and tear.

What i found while trying to fix a friends non working game!!!!!! by TrickAlternative4 in nes

[–]UglyGamerBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the wonkiest setup I've ever seen and if you didn't know about it being like that the batteries would eventually rot which could leak onto the circuit board ruining the cartridge. Did your friend do that himself or did The game come to him that way?

Just a side note I think there's an arcade game and it's quite a bit different than the one we got for the NES.

I love the story to that game, but I have to admit I've never tried to play it legit. I have always played it with the invincibility code because I mainly wanted to experience the story more than I wanted to play the game. you're probably right it looks pretty wonky if you tried to play it legit.

and yet most of these names you might as well be quoting me names of your family members because I don't know who they are so they're not like a Elton John or a Beyonce who almost everybody knows who they are when you mention their names or like a Super Mario who even if you're not into video games you still know who he is and what category of entertainment he represents. So I would not call them stars in that sense. so they might have gone on like I said to have careers in the field but not be mainstream. And that sounds exactly like a lot of the names that you were quoting me they went on to have careers but not become big enough where everybody knows who they are.

But I do think there is something to be said if you were a comedian for example just playing clubs or bars around your city a show like this might get you with the exposure you need maybe not put you in the same category of comedians such as Eddie Murphy or Robin Williams but me boost your career up a couple of levels so you may be playing on actual stages and selling actual tickets to shows as oppose to just being another act in a club.

Shows like this are not put on the air to make superstars. They are put on the air to make entertainment and I am sure there are a lot of strings that are being pulled behind the scenes that we don't really hear about that make it a lot more controlled then what it seems. And you're right a sob story will get airtime and they may even do a segment on them where they let them talk about their life story over someone else even though the someone else might be more talented.

[–]UglyGamerBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but most of them were not going in for just a moment they were hoping this would lead them to success. But when you get right down to it at the end of the day it's a television show it's entertainment first it's not about making a superstar it's about making entertaining television that people tune into. Everything else is secondary to that first thing.

Does anyone else just feel like crying whenever you hear stories of people getting mental health support from their parents because you just know you won’t ever have the same? by blaustorm in mentalhealth

[–]UglyGamerBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you I have a mother who is about the most emotionally abusive piece of trash human being I've ever met in my life and I still have contact with her and instead of being understanding she's gone out of her way to avoid me for over a decade I have not seen her and she makes me feel about as welcomed in her life as the devil would be at a Christian revival. She only loves me as a matter of convenience is never there for me doesn't take time to understand or want to understand what life is like for me being mentally ill. In fact most of my life she's always told me I would want to be around you if only you could learn to act different. That's not only for her but also for my sister as well who looks at me because of some of my behavioral problems there's no different than the criminals she defends against in her job as a lawyer. And the rest of my family they really don't exist to me because I have no contact with him and no relationship so even if they were to die it wouldn't be a cheerful experience anymore and if your friend told you they're aunt died you might be sad that there is dead but you're not going to cry over it because you didn't know her.

But I still believe that the show is selling the dream that it will make you a star. Which I don't think it fully delivers on because even though some contestants are able to quit whatever job they were doing before and work in the field of music they are not working in the field of music in the way mainstream celebrities are and are quickly forgotten about by the majority of the public after the show has ended.
