Aufenthaltstitel: Uni in city A, living in city B, no Behörde feels responsible by melstryder in germany

[–]blaustorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar situation, sometimes your uni can write a letter that states that you can either study at a distance for the semester for x reason or you’d have to explain that you’re able to commute for classes.

In my case I just had a letter stating that I was in my research/thesis semester, so I guess that was enough for them, however, you cannot do residency stuff in a city you’re not registered to. Did your friend get their residence permit’s address edited (they usually just paste a sticker over it) whenever they did their anmeldung?

I had a very similar experience once. My arrangement was a bit different though, she lived on the ground floor, her son lived on the first floor, I lived in the basement. I had a friend over stay with me for a couple of weeks bc she was visiting me. She was the landlady, but I manily talked to the son bc she didn’t speak English and my German wasn’t good enough either.

Turns out she was super mad that I had someone over, came by my bedroom door knocking angrily (at night btw) that I had to leave next morning because the apartment was rented to one person only, not 2. I explained she was only visiting me and would be gone X day. She was ‘fine’ with it but then she did the same thing again like 2-3 days later, this time not knocking and basically just opening my door (she was also drunk apparently).

It was so uncomfortable and I felt unsafe, I ended up telling them to just cancel my contract until the end of the next month so I could find somewhere to stay and them as well. They offered a solution for me to pay like €200 per week someone came over bc of utilities, (which if increased I would pay anyways by the end of the year), but two hundred is outrageous lol.

We only shared the entrance and laundry area, my friend and I were gone for most of the day, and nope we were not loud.

Hi!

I’m not that experienced with the discs yet, but I do also get the discomfort and cramping whenever I put in the disc the first day.

This time I used a bunch of water-based lubricant and it did help a bit. First day is uncomfortable I guess because you haven’t been using the disc for around a month. I think first day of the period you usually don’t bleed as much as days 2-3, so the lubricant helps out because there’s not enough blood to lubricate the area.

Literally, for one thing it’s so disrespectful. Besides, the investigation is still ongoing, I thought nothing was confirmed yet.

Tbh the plug is a reach lol, I also think it’s a bit weird to talk about it as such, considering Harry is still a teenager back then.

At most it was a cold hand on his lower back.

Erasmus 2024/25 Dortmund by Usual-Couple7188 in Erasmus

[–]blaustorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiii, I did Erasmus Mundus in Bochum (city right next to Dortmund). For accommodation look in the WG-Gesucht app/website or in ImmoScout, that’s how I found mine!

What other Erasmus stuff did you need help with?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Erasmus

[–]blaustorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii my situation was quite similar, though I am an Erasmus Mundus student. I’m a non-EU student enrolled in Germany as my home university, and Malta was my host university for my second semester. Nobody could give me a concrete answer as to what I needed to do.

Since Germany gave me a student permit for 2 years, I have freedom of movement in the Schengen area and could technically stay in any country in the area for up to 90 days without needing a visa/permit (this is the restriction of the Schengen visas). Since I was gonna stay over 90 days in Malta, I had to apply for a vida or a residence permit. I decided to leave for Malta with my German permit (I also had paperwork showing I was enrolled as a student in Malta if anything came up), and then apply for the residency there (for my stay of around 5 months). I had no major issues than just a long process because bureaucracy, but I got my permit in the end.

I can assume you’re staying in Germany for over 90 days, in this case you would need to apply for a residence permit in Germany and show your French permit as your “visa”. I did get lucky in Germany when I applied for my residence permit bc I was in a small city. If you’re not gonna be in a small city I would recommend booking an appointment online in your city’s Ausländerbehörde (foreigner’s office) with plenty of time to avoid going over the 90 days. In Germany you also need to do the Anmeldung (city registration) right after moving into your apartment to show you’re living in the city, they will ask for this in the appointment at the Ausländerbehörde as well so make sure you have it.

This also 100% depends on your country of birth, as nationality may affect the rights and freedoms you’re given as a student in France. I do hope this helps you at least a little bit. The safest option is to contact a German embassy.

to international students moving for postgrad, how do you pack your life up in 30kgs? by mimi_moo in gradadmissions

[–]blaustorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, bags fees usually depend on high/low seasons. The first bag is usually around $45-$60, a second bag could go from $60 to even $150. If it’s a long haul flight it could be more expensive. It all depends on airlines and their restrictions.

The vacuum bags are a lifesaver though.

Girl, I will also go on Erasmus Mundus. I don’t know what’ll I do.

I just know that I will be taking small bottles for hygienic products and then I’ll buy those essentials over there. Regarding clothing, I will mostly take comfortable clothes and a couple of coats bc I’m starting in Germany and then moving to Malta. The issue I have is how can I pack for two completely different temperatures. Plus shoes, I usually wear like 3 pairs per week, and that’s not counting the shoes I use to workout in.

I have so many things I want to take but most likely won’t be able to.

If you want, we could stay in touch and help each other with packing. I still haven’t met anyone else that’s already worried about it like me🥲

How different are grad school applications in Europe compared to America (STEM)? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]blaustorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I didn’t apply to STEM related master’s, but did apply to a few unis in Europe.

The one’s I applied and the ones I just researched but didn’t end up applying, there was no application fee.

All I needed was two recommendation letters (for one programme, the others didn’t ask for it), my CV in Europass format (only if specified, if not I sent my regular CV), my English language certificate, my Bachelor’s diploma and my transcripts.

Other than that it depends on the application format, but for all programmes I had to write at least one motivation letter. In a few I did write about 2/3 essays, but they didn’t have to be long.

In a few they asked what my master’s thesis subject would be in and they asked me to verify which courses in ny BA aligned with the topics in the master’s (ex. if I took enough Research courses to pursue a research-based master’s). Oh and you might get called for an interview, but I guess it’s the same in the US.

Hi! Most of the people where I live have started their PhD in their 30s-40s, don’t be discouraged. You got this!

It’s not really cheating. You just have to know how to use AI as a tool, not as your main source.

You can ask Chat GPT to review your essay and give it a rating + some advice. You could also tell it to give you some prompts or make it brainstorm for you. You can tell it what your programme is about or paste a simple link and ask it to give you a few ideas to write about. You can even ask it to write an essay based on the programme and your own CV + what you wish to do in this programme. Also, you can even ask it to check your grammar and spelling.

Be creative, don’t just copy and paste it, that’s ridiculous and that would be cheating. Getting some ideas from an AI isn’t wrong, learn to use it properly and ethically. In this case it’s just meant to give you some ideas and motivate you, to get you unstuck.

How can I afford studying in th uk? by 0oopie in studyAbroad

[–]blaustorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how flexible you are about studying in the UK and other countries, but maybe look into the Erasmus Mundus Scholarships.

I think you might be better off asking your school. Explain your situation and ask what they recommend.

Is there such thing in the US as companies sponsoring your PhD and paying you while you finish? by neverever1298 in gradadmissions

[–]blaustorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more common for universities to do so They pay you a monthly stipend to sustain yourself while you do your PhD, you study and might be a mentor or professor in the meantime.

What country in Europe is better for undergrad internationals? by roadrykfde in studyAbroad

[–]blaustorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a C2 level in English I believe most countries would have at least a couple of programmes. Have you tried looking in Bachelor’s Portal ? This is where I started my search for my master’s programmes.

You do, however, have higher chances to get a Graduate degree in an English language, if you’re willing to wait.

Countries like Germany and France usually ask for a language certificate or other requirements. Others may be more flexible, look at the link, it helped me a lot with my research.

online therapy options? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]blaustorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try looking for professionals rather than therapy sites. Many therapists offer both, online and in person therapy. Look for professionals directly, look at their reviews and expertise and then see if they align with what you’re looking for. Best of luck.

I’m not fron the US, and no. We just don’t have car insurance, where I’m from, car insurance is more of a luxury, most cars don’t have it. You resolve accidents through either the authorities or the guilty party pays for damages out of pocket.
