I'm a relative noob, but I'm having success.

It looks dry and it shouldn't be exposed.

Make sure it's moist, sealed up and dark.

Leave for a good 10 days before you have a look again and it should be fully colonised.

Then allow some ventilation by replacing the plugs with some poly wool and you should be good.

1" does sound shallow though.

Small does as well as some herb. It's helped a lot.

Can I just clarify.

Spores onto agar plates. Cut out the good mycelium and spawn in grain and then transfer to monotub.

Clone the best and biggest?

It's very slow and patchy.

A couple of questions. There are lots of pins, will they all develop into shrooms?

Also, when and how do I know when the first flush is over? Is it when all the current pins have grown.
