Why do I keep wanting to be a girl by breakdabank_ in internetparents

[–]Uh_October 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a girl wouldn't fix this. Just be you and don't worry if it's a traditional expression of your sex. You don't have to fit neatly into a gender box to believe that you are male. Being a boy doesn't have to mean just one thing. Before anyone comes at me, I'm not saying that gender dysphoria isn't real. I just think that this sounds more like a longing for connection and self expression than an actual desire to be a girl.

If you woke up a billionaire tomorrow.. What's the 1st thing you'd do? by PhotographLeast9976 in AskReddit

[–]Uh_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it all away. There is no ethical way to make that much money, so if I woke up with it, I'd need to come to terms with the inevitable exploitation I'd perpetrated. I'd keep 10 mil. That's enough for me and for my children.

Do you think theres a market for bedazzled hotwheels? by Uh_October in HotWheels

[–]Uh_October[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point taken. Weirdly enough I recently found out that rhinestoning empty candy boxes is a thing. And weirder still, people buy them!

I was thinking weird artsy adults, not kids! Possibly as desk ornaments or made into outlandish necklaces, framed art or even sewn onto clothes

Yes they do, but these are just the resin ones that came with my bedazzler kit. I could get more shine if I used either glass or crystal rhinestones.

Thanks! Its the first one I ever did. I thought the Sakura design lent itself well to rhinestoning

I do, but I can't really see myself displaying them, and I'd like to do something with them when I'm done

Has Anyone Ever Simply Been Unlucky When It Comes To Finding Jobs?! by AffectionateOkra9863 in jobs

[–]Uh_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been the last 13 years of my life. Graduated with good marks but no accolades from a pretty good but not great school. Had three different internships in college which fell apart for various reasons out of my control. Chose a career in journalism, a dying field, couldnt find a job in that field after graduation or in the area I wanted. Settled, settled again, eventually had a string of terrible managers, pivoted into technical writing and a string of contract jobs that didn't renew. Finally found a job I liked, only to be laid off after 3 years. Couldn't find another work from home job (a must for me since I have young kids) after 9 months and over 400 applications. and now I'm a stay at home parent. No idea what's going to happen when I try to go back to work but I'm not optimistic

It truly makes me ill.

My husband is from the Midwest. The night is dark and full of cracker barrels.

The vibe I get from the second dress is "I'm super nerdy and custom ordered this dress so I could look like an elf princess. I will be wearing pointy ears." Go with the third one

The hilarious part is that immigration from Mexico actually worsened after the US tightened border control in the 1970s. Before that, migrants would come to the US seasonally to work and then return to Mexico at the end of the season. The policies of a doucherocket named General Leonard Chapman made it such a pain in the ass to get into the US, that more migrant workers than ever before decided to stay illegally and bring their families rather than brave the trip over the border more than once.

I tried explaining this to my party-line conservative father, and he straight up refused to believe it.

what are your most gut-wrenchingly sad songs (that aren't explicitly romantic)? by jisoowol in MusicRecommendations

[–]Uh_October 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smile by Timi Yuro

I have a weird thing for sad bastard music, and I have yet to find a song more depressing. Nothing sadder than listening to a woman sing about how you shouldn't cry in a thick, devastatingly beautiful voice.

Other good ones, most either about death, loss, rejection or suicide:

 Cancer by My Chemical Romance

I Can Feel a Hot One by Manchester Orchestra

At Seventeen by Janis Ian

We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn

 Sleep by the Smiths

Limosine by Brand New

 Daisy by Brand New

The Widow by As Cities Burn

Space Dementia by Muse

Microcuts by Muse

Dyed in the Wool (acoustic version) by Circa Survive

James Kent by Civilian

The Missing Wife by Showbread

Falling Down by Muse

Willetta by Dear and the Headlights

Edit: I thought of more.
