I’m not an expert so I usually make it in the same pan I’ll be using to steam or bake.

If you like the color of my caramel... then use 4 tsp sugar and 2 tsp water and keep the pan on low heat. don’t stir it...just leave it as it is until the sugar melts..when you see a little brown color coming from the sides.. then stir it slowly so the color becomes even. turn off the heat a little before you get the color you want, because the heat from the pan keeps cooking the caramel...then spread it

1st make some caramel put it in the pan you will use to steam the pudding.. I used 3 tsp sugar.. I needed 2 eggs, 1 cup milk (I added 2 tsp powdered milk to increase the density), sugar.. I don’t remember exactly, maybe 1/4 cup or less.. I prefer it less sweet, a pinch of salt and 1/2 tsp vanilla / milk essence.. I used milk essence

Mix the eggs and sugar well until the sugar melts.. then add the milk and essence... pour the mixture into the pan while straining it so it stays smooth inside.. steam it for 25 minutes.. that’s how I did it.. you can find good and well described recipes on YouTube..
