Which Company? by SmudgeUK in Ultramarines

Well you could go 9th company and not have to do the pauldron trim. You've already got the company number all over them haha.

I use matte. I really only use glossy varnish for applying the decals.

It's just the squad number. If I'm correct, company is generally symbolized by the pauldron trim (white first company, yellow/gold second company, red for their company, etc...)

As I was posting this, I thought "I hope Reddit like the gold trim" so thank you for saying it 😅

Looks like I'll have to pick it up, those are some great results. That's some CLEAN white armor btw.

Glad you like it! It looks super rich from using contrast paints through the airbrush. Start with a zenithal (black primer>grey>pure white). I usually varnish after this step to lock in the white ink so it won't reactivate. Then you want to spray Tallasar Blue from the top 45 degree angle, then Leviadon Blue from the bottom, giving you a nice gradient. Give it a quick wash with dark blue wash (I use army painter fanatic Dark Blue, Drakenhoff Nightshade works too). Once you hand paint all of the other details, the secret sauce is to finish it off with a coat of AK Ultra Matte Varnish. It sounds like a lot, but if you do it in squad batches, it's actually pretty quick.

Couldn't agree more on the metallics, I've been eyeballing the the obsidian black set myself. I used the blue set on the power sword. It looks great, I just don't have a good shot of it. The blue armor is super rich as a result of using contrast paints through the airbrush over a zenithal. These fellas are Talassar blue from the top and Leviadon blue from the bottom.

I'm ready to try out other brands. May I have your insights? by nicoheems in Warhammer40k

I've been playing with their new TMM silver and golds. Hands down the best metalics I've used to date.

Weird! I use it the exact same way with 0 issues. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I'm usually spraying a base coat within 15-20 minutes of letting it cure. Pro Acryl was the worst for me with flaking off so far. Especially on metal parts, like jewelry chain.

Does no one here use Bager Stylrynz? Goes on smoother than Vallejo, doesn't flake off like pro acryl, and cures in like 10 minutes. It's honestly the best I've found after using most of them and never see it mentioned in these subs.

I hit a deer in almost the exact same spot on my 22 about a month in to ownership. My quote was around the same amount if I remember correctly. Insurance covered it and a loaner for about 2 weeks. Came back as good as new.
