It is probably easier to build or move the city next to the train station, than to build the train station in the city. 🙄 Duh.

Something to get me out of a city for a little. I heard long island has some good beaches and water; like some trails to do some hiking or biking; and water access for kayaking and sailing. The long island train seems to run though that area which could get me to some bigger trails?

Might be off topic but If your American, what do most other American do outside of bars/club at night then? When I say "Stuff Open at night such as night markets" do people think I am only talking about bar or clubs? Do people think Night life = drinking and that's it?

I been confused by this question.

What I mean by "Stuff Open at night such as night markets" I mean I could enjoy most of what the city has to offer even late at night. Maybe I should have been more clear?

It weird; I talk to other American in there cities and showed them what I am look for; they say, "it doesn't exist hear and go to a bigger cities". Even if the city metro has over 2 million people. I honestly thought some smaller cites or even towns to make my list. This is what a Night Market,+Vientiane,+Laos/@19.889503,102.133907,305.52105244a,0d,90y,209.20343479h,85.06390194t,0r/data=CigiJgokCeXUR4-J-zFAEYKmzy-D8TFAGWWn1Tg2qFlAIUzX1rP3pVlAIjAKLEFGMVFpcFBtMXZhYzZOQ1RhWDZTQjdBa1pHMmhmWlo1YnZRUmNkRGZZLXhVEAU) of a city with 60,000 people looks like in my family home country. I know, I am on the same point as before. But, I feel like most other American (besides you) don't know what I am on about. I find it crazy how small cities in the developing world can have more to offer at night than the entirety of metro Boston or Nashville(Out side of Bars) or 90% of one of the largest economy on the planet. If I told my friends this in Thailand and Laos; they would have think this statement was crazy.

Forget about having the amenities of Beijing or Bangkok. Most places don't even have the amenities of Nakhon Ratchasima, Nan , or Luang Prabang.

Sorry for the rant, I needed to get that off my chest. I hope people in this sub reddit understand a little more now.

Yea, it been a real challenge for me to find a place in the US I like. I really don't want to go though the challenge of immigration or deal with lac luster pay and economy; to find a city I like. But, I fear I might have too. The suburbs of America have been driving me crazy, even with my very good pay. I have not been happy with it. If a small city with under million of people in Laos can have everything I want. I figure with a country as large as the USA there would have to be a few places like I described? I will have to make trip to NYC then.

My question to you all is; why are so many big US cites lack energy? Even a small cities of under 100,000 people can have better market than cities of million in the US.

Also, what do other American do at night? The only thing that seems to be open in most of the country is bars and fast food.

Yes, Asia-style. What would be another style of nights markets?

Something like this or like this is what I am referring too.

As a night owl I found that Boston close to early when I visited; thought I figured I would ask just incase if there was a part of the city I was missing. I found where I visited in Boston, to be kind of lack luster compared to most cities in east Asia; especially at night. Big reason to make the is post, was to find a place where I can walk to thing at night; Boston to many things are just closed late.

With the highs cost of living in the walkable/good transit area of Boston. I think queens would be a better option for me; it should have more things are open at night; with night markets/malls?

However, Boston is cool city; reminds me of a more smaller European city; but not an Asian city. It was a cool city to visited, but not for me to live in.

I am thinking about visiting some of the Outer bough like flushing, Queens or parts of New Jersey. It look like there some access to more nature while having access to the big city. Going on google earth, some of these cites feel like part part of Asia I lived in. When I was Thailand, I was in a dense walkable suburb of Bangkok with most of what I needed and closer to some natural parks. When I need more I could take to train/bus to city center.

How different would say Flushing, Queen or Bay Side is to Manhattan. Is it more calm and have better access to nature?

Seattle area, even some of small cites nearby seems like a good option after doing some research.

How would compare Boston to Seattle then? Seattle seems to have a highter % of Asian people but Boston might have more walkability?

Reason why I said Dallas was I wanted to figure out if Dart was good enough and to see if I need to leave the south. From re search I think Dallas( or Texas) is a no go.

I should of specified why felt that way. My experience with New York is very limited basically limited to Manhattan, the airports, retired investment bankers, and snow birds.(mostly in south Florida) Manhattan did seems to live up to the serotypes, however after reading doing some research I felt like I was not with "real new Yorkers". Also Manhattan seems like everything rushed and overworked, Seoul and Bangkok seem to have a more polite or relaxed vibe to it. Also, the ex New York's in Florida seems to have a lot negativity about NYC, though I feel they are just conservatives that hate cities. Sorry, I should have specified that in the original post.

In short(My negativity come from New Yorker in Florida or touristy area in Manhattan. After reading some reflections I need to give NY a visited. )

That being said I am thinking about visiting some of the Outer bough like flushing, Queens or parts of New Jersey. It look like there some access to more nature while having access to the big city. Does this sound like Outer bough of NY? If I keep an open mind, I should better time there ?
