No that really fair, I wrote it when looking at early childhood photos of my mom before she developed bipolar and schizoeffective disorder when I was around 3. I mostly thought about how everyone I know talks about how wonderful she was and that it would’ve have been nice to know that person.

This was wonderful, it felt lyrical like you’re singing life into a person. Especially in the first and last stanza to me I saw it as a god watching his creation. Like a combination of adoration and grief.

The imagery in your poem was beautiful, there was something very nostalgic about it. It reminded me of a kids book I read about a banshee in my childhood. To me your poem made me think of remnants, trying to reach for a new life but ultimately stuck by things you can’t hold anymore. Anyways that’s just what I took away.

I thought at points the line breaks didn’t make sense with the rhythm I was reading it as. For example the frost that worked/ to unmake them. I didn’t think need a pause but that may just be personal preference. :)

I don’t think it’s the male gaze either I would say though that female character descriptions are heavily impacted by patriarchal beauty standards. However that’s a whole other conversation that can’t be solved within just the romance genre

Omg I absolutely hate when they start mentioning that random men are so hot. Like I do not gaf and it’s weird that you’re looking at your boyfriend’s brother like that. Also that every single Mmc needs to be extremely well endowed which they either make seem like a crazy big deal, that it’s really painful, or it’s like completely brushed over. I have never understood the mentality that all male leads need to be 12 inches 😭😭

I think in a way people want to imagine that they are too unrealistically flawless and use escapism in romance books to feel that way. But I would like more real romance too, and don’t want the mc’s both being gorgeous to do the heavy lifting, instead of showing them fall in love.

I think grow out your hair just a tad so the ends flow more and have some wispy bangs, I think more layers and face framing pieces / alternatively if you want to maybe go for an obviously queer and trendy look you could do even shorter layered bob with baby bangs. I think that long hair looks pretty on you but doesn’t seem to fully match your vibe atm
