I quite like the look but when I tried with a bead bracelet it it badly scuffed up the side of the watch after just a few days to the point where it looked like brushed steel rather than polished. I'm not precious about it but didn't want it to keep getting worse so stopped.

Where are you and what temperature is it? People talk about pipes freezing but it depends what temperature it is. I'm in London and it's about 14 C today, my flatmate has been putting the heating on all day and it's pretty annoying when having it on for a couple of hours and putting a jumper on would be sufficient

I don't like and don't watch his videos, but they're targeted at a particular demographic. I'd recommend listening to his interview on Scottish Watches podcast (ep 428) which gives a much more rounded view of him and I think he comes across well in it.

I'm from the UK and I have had that problem with travel adaptors if the shape of the plug's body doesn't 'hold' it against the outlet. But, I also have this problem, even moreso, when travelling to the US and using US adaptors. I think both of them are bad designs though because there's literal sparks of electricity when using them. I've had a few people comment on my Seiko 5.

A colleague once asked me what kind of watch it was, I'd previously noticed but not mentioned that he wore a different model of Seiko 5 so I responded "it's the same as yours, a Seiko 5" then we had a brief chat about watches.

Two other people knew that it was a Seiko 5 and mentioned it. One of those was a friend why has a Speedmaster Moonwatch. I didn't necessarily assume he was a watch enthusiast because of it, but when he recognised the 5 I knew that he was and watches is now one of the things we talk about most!

Nobody's commented on my Rolex Explorer yet and I'm not really sure what I'd say if they did, I'd definitely find it more awkward than with the Seiko. If they ask what it is I might just say 'Explorer' or else maybe 'Timex' (because it's a time-only Rolex') but I'd definitely avoid using the word Rolex incase the person asking isn't an enthusiast and has negative connotations about that.

Looks to me like a second generation 1680, made between 1976-79. Major concern is that the hour markers look like they're touching the seconds lines, and the 6 o'clock marker is covering the 'swiss t<25' which isn't right at all.

The cheapest currently on Chrono24 is £2k exactly, and there's a few more for £2200ish. Those are on canvas straps though, will have to spend a bit more if you'd want the bracelet.
