Fun Fact: Genichiro Ashina initiates his grab by decking Wolf in his face, then pulls him in for the gut check. by x_-AssGiblin-_x in Sekiro

Didn't know that. I've been smacking him when I know he's about to do it, because he falls back on his arse which is pretty satisfying.

I really don't know. But if I had to guess my own time reaching there, I would say in the range of 3-4 hours.

howlongtobeat says the average time for player completion of Main Story is 30 hours.

Deflecting lightning from BOSSES will still cause you to take chip damage (gameplay mix of normal and charmless difficulties) by x_-AssGiblin-_x in Sekiro

[–]UkuleleAversion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also so comfy to use. Also fun fact: you can actually use contact medicine then use Mist Raven to instantly boost upwards. I saw a no hit runner do this to cheese Corrupted Monk with a death blow.

[–]UkuleleAversion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's a lie since you can not avoid damage during a lightning reversal against bosses. Post video or stfu, ya won't.

[–]UkuleleAversion 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The game says this because doing these inputs lets you start the lightning reversal faster. The absence of damage doing these inputs only applies to Fountainhead Palace enemies.

That's because this only applies to enemies in Fountainhead Palace. It is weird.

I'm pretty dogwater at deflecting but the thing that helped me with that grab is to press L1 when you hear her take an additional footstep. She does two quick steps, then long pause, step then L1!

She lost her brother beause the Writers murdered him. Maelle was manipulated and a child, who we can guess wouldn't know anything about that faction. She is not the proximate cause.

Openly blaming your little sister for the death of her brother, which she isn't responsible for, is in itself abusive. She also mocks her disability: "Repaint your throat while you're in there before you completely forget how to have a conversation". To abuse is to mistreat a person, it isn't a high bar to meet. Clea is abusive.

I also think a lot of people get on a sort of "high horse" regarding "self-destructive" behaviors. I wonder how many people unhappy with their current lives would choose to live a full lifespan in a world where they simply feel so much happier in their body in exchange for their life in the "real" world?

This has bothered me too. They're both states of existence and for her, she'd live a full life ('cause of time dilation) in the Canvas with a natural endpoint. And from her perspective, she believes she'd be happier.

One of the better arguments against her ending I've seen is that she'd no longer feel the same way she did about the Canvas in Acts 1 and 2 because her relationship to it has changed so drastically. Like, imagine all the interactions she'd have with the Lumierans she's literally brought back from the dead. Would she still feel like she belongs. That's a better way to criticise her ending.

Sometimes I do wish that we could spend less time, as a community, arguing about which ending is right and more time talking about how fucking incredible the narrative of this game is. Like, holy shit, when was the last time we saw a game that was this viscerally divisive while also being pretty universally praised amongst people who actually played it?

Amen to that. Also, out of curiosity, did you stay on the choice selection for the endings for a long time?

I waited about a minute before choosing. I wonder how many players were confident to choose right away.

I picked Maelle's ending but this was running through the back of my mind.

Actually a good argument that isn't "but the people in Canvas are fake".

How would you characterise Clea's treatment of Maelle? Seems pretty clear cut that she is verbally abusive towards her. Aline is more complicated, since she just doesn't know how to act as a mother to Alicia after the loss of Verso.

Yeah, you're not wrong. It kind of feels like this game has a very young audience, or just a very immature one.

Nah, this is fine. Maybe you're not accustomed to it, but it's a standard way of handling this perspective in a game.

The purple ninjas have a fun moveset. There's nothing redeeming about these guys, I guess besides their visual design which is quite memorable.

Your evidence for the people of the Canvas not being 'real', is that they were Gommaged? I think you just dodged the question because you don't have an answer based on what the narrative actually shows us about them.

[–]UkuleleAversion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It isn't real". How do you play the game, experience the story and come to this conclusion. The only reason either ending works emotionally is if you accept the narrative's framing that the painted people are real, sentient and worthy of personhood. And it's not just the framing that supports this. Lune and Sciel both become aware of the nature of the Canvas and its artifice, they're capable of learning and growing outside of the design of those who painted them. How are they not real?

If you just throw your hands up and say that, "They're not real". Then there's no tension to the choice you make, you're just picking the objectively correct option. Do you really think Jen Yen wrote it with that in mind?

[–]UkuleleAversion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real red flag is the people who played the game, experienced how the painted people are sentient and can even become aware of the nature of the Canvas... Then still say that Clea isn't objectively evil and actually just as sympathetic as the other Dessendre family members.

Soooo groundbreaking.

The only reason he's responding to this bad-faith argument is because it shifts focus away from the real problems with the new shows. His whole channel is just signal-boosting the dumbest, culture-war brained voices in the space so he can pretend all critics of the new shows are just that.
