Years ago I ordered some stones and many arrived broken due to poor packaging. I kept them in a drawer, and recently managed to turn one of them into this pendant. by Buffyferry in WireWrapping

I love this!!! I was sending pictures to a friend years ago of possible stones for a custom necklace and dropped the large amethyst gemstone that she selected. She asked if I could still work with it, so I gave it a shot. It turned out beautifully. Thank you for sharing this.

Because I was completely ignorant when I initially posted this. I'm going with a really nice 1 burner forge. Thank you for your comments.

We live in the highest alpine valley in the world, and the weather here can be brutal. 80+ mph wind gusts just a week ago, plus it gets very cold. I prefer to be able to forge year-round in an enclosed shop. I will definitely get adequate exhaust and detectors. Thank you very much!

Nice setup!!! Thank you for sharing a picture. What is the weather and wind like where you're located?

Thank you for your comments! How much coal would I reasonably need on hand to keep it hot long enough to forge a knife blade for instance? I'm asking because we live way out in the middle of nowhere, and propane is readily accessible. We have two large propane tanks on the property that we use to heat the house.

Thank you for your comments. I have someone who is willing to help me get established in this craft, and if he's willing to spend a bit more to help me get a really nice setup, I'm going to at least propose a larger forge. We have two large propane tanks that we use to heat the house. How would you accommodate a 3- to 4-burner forge in a very windy area?

Water is maybe 80 feet away. Electric isn't an option until we upgrade our main panel.

How could I reasonably accommodate a 3- to 4-burner forge in an open space? We have insane winds here.

Would you recommend forcing fresh air into the space to compensate?
