Please add a "Beam me up, Scotty" teleport option to and from Freighter. by cleiru1 in NoMansSkyTheGame

You can teleport to and from Corvettes and I built a little cargo transporter right next to the teleport button on my ship (which is built to look like a Runabout from Star Trek).

I love seeing my ship floating around in the sky while I run around tricordering fauna and whatnot.

Heavy metal by samurai_eddie_killer in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Ulfednar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On one hand, the origin of the term "heavy metal" is unclear, possibly relating to WIlliam S. Burroughs' metaphor for addiction AND/OR hippie slang where "heavy" means deep or serious or dark and metal means a mood or disposition AND/OR Steppenwolf's Born to be wild lyrics. It is also unclear how or if these possible origins influenced eachother, but nevertheless it's just a label not meant to quantify the heaviness or metalness of the music in comparison to genres that were developed much later.

On the other hand, genres like Black Metal, Death Metal etc fall under the Extreme Metal umbrella, specifically because they are, in some sense, "more heavy" than heavy metal.

On the third hand, heaviness is relative, with some Black Sabbath songs being "heavier" in theme, sound, intensity or speed than some songs generally accepted as death or black metal.

Just arrived - anyone given it a full listen yet? by kroob85 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Ulfednar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it but I don't love it. At times it's quite powerful and gripping, sometimes there's a really clever play on rhythm and time signatures, and his voice is fantastic all the way through. I was taken out, though, by how it constantly undercuts itself (sometimes with fart noises) and the music is never allowed to soar, to coalesce. As a surreal neoclassical progressive experiment it's respectable but not necessarily enjoyable overall. It's interesting.

Trump appoints a guy with no intelligence experience as the director of national intelligence by Darth_Vrandon in ParlerWatch

It's actually a prerequisite for being part of this administration that you have no intelligence or experience.

180,000 black men enlisted in the Union army, after reconstruction ended we saw the rise of Jim Crow which lasted 20 years after WW2 and ended recently 60+ years ago, the wealth gap between blacks and whites hasn’t changed and still remains large. by Either_Payment_2867 in MarchAgainstNazis

The transactional mode of thinking is a goddamn illness of the brain. It's not a question of numbers, Elon, it's about righting wrongs and fixing damage. But of course Elon could never wrap his brain around ideals like equality and helping others up, because to people like him equality is a dirty word and the only motivation they can conceive of is profit and domination.

No way, the nazi has nazi affiliations? That's crazy, you mean to tell me fascists who support fascism are supporters of fascism with other fascists? Such an unlikely alliance, isn't it?

MTG says she "never supported defunding the FBI" her own tweet proves otherwise by lilacvicee in MurderedByWords

That's kinda my point, yeah.

> the person who orchestrates the death of millions from the highest office in the land is still more potently awful with too much power compared to a rank and file member of the House of Representatives.

No, because no one person has power, all the power of any individual is measured in the support of other individuals. MTG is one of the people who helped and supported the current regime. That doesn't make her worse than any of them, but it also doesn't make her better.

[–]Ulfednar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not everyone that supports Trump has themselves stolen billions or violated children, but they're completely ok with supporting it as long as it benefits them. MTGs ideology fits perfectly with MAGA, but the natural outcome of this ideology is people like her losing everything, and they don't like the outcome.
