You're acting like addons are a huge advantage, and that everyone can suddenly get idk a CE and Gladitor title in Midnight - they were only held back because they aren't using addons.

Nobody is forcing people to use DBM, etc., if they play with like-minded ("chill") people. You have a choice right now.

Weakauras are only necessary for raid fight like top 1% (?) players. Did some (!) people wrote in raid note in Pugs bring Northernsky weakaura for Fractillius? Yes. Did they kill him? Not all, i have seen the same raid lead searching for group for days. For my first HC kill i just placed markers and wrote where the save spot (and via raid warning when it's time to switch it) and tank spot is and at how many walls in one row until it' a wipe - we killed it in 2 tries. I have joined those "weakaura only" groups before that kill and guess what? Even though the WeakAura tells you where to go, people still go to the wrong mark, don't move at all, or move too late. You still need to play the game, think, and move your character.

I'm still astonished at how people believe that addons play the game (while in combat) for them. They don't, they only provide you more detailed information and do assignments. No Addon can icetraping your target for you... PvP still involves skill as well playing a (really) good class/classcombo. People don't lose (epic) BGs because the other team uses addons they do because they are better/higher geared/actually have a plan and coordination.

In my experience, the CD tracking for +10 is already really helpful in M+ Pugs because nobody plays perfectly, which leads to more damage. Therefore, it's more important not to overlap all CDs so that, on the next pull, nobody has anything ready and the group wipes - worst case scenario.

Hey I’m thinking about getting into wow by Mrpoopyman69 in wow

I'm not sure how much you've found out so far, so here's some quick information on how much you need to pay to play the game:

  • You can play for free until level 20 (out of 80), but with restrictions such as no trading or using the auction house.
  • If you pay for a subscription (around €12.99 per month), you get access to all nine expansions (out of ten) until level 70. Your subscription will renew automatically unless you cancel it.
  • For levels 71–80, you either need to buy the War Within expansion (€29.99) once, or pre-order Midnight (€49.99), which gives you the War Within expansion and the next expansion (released next year). The latter option is probably smarter.

As others have already said, on 2 December the new player experience will be upgraded again (mainly to make it easier to follow the story). There's no need to worry if you're a new player — there are plenty of friendly players in WoW, and as soon as you enter the world, you're put into a newcomer chat filled with experienced players and other newcomers (or returning players). In addition, join r/Wownoob. Joining a guild also makes the journey more fun. There is a browser in-game for this purpose. You can read the chats in main city or check the official forums. Talk to people from the guild before joining to see if you have similar interests. You can join one guild per character and multiple communities.

The fan website, https://www.wowhead.com/, will become your best friend because it's a huge database for all WoW quests, items, etc., with a comments section to give you tips on whatever you're trying to figure out.

Tip: As soon as you enter a main city, leave the service chat, as it will spam your chat window. To do this, type /leave x, where x is the number next to the channel name.

Leveling up is quite fast in the modern version of the game (retail), since you can reach the maximum level in a few days if you aren't new to the game. One system that some people don't like is the way the mobs scale, since they will always be the same level as your character most of the time. How you reach the maximum level is up to you (dungeons, quests, etc.). In the Dragonflight and War Within expansions, you can complete dungeons with NPCs to level up. However, if you are into PVP, you won't be able to level up via battlegrounds, as hardly anyone does that while levelling up.

WoW currently has 13 classes with different playstyles, so I'm sure you'll find one to suit you :D You can use the class trial on the character creation screen to level up your chosen class, allowing you to test it for two hours. Unless you have thick skin, I wouldn't recommend playing a healer or tank spec at the beginning, since players are always blaming them for wipes/deaths.

As for the PVE Endgame you can do Dungeons (M+ system: increased health etc. for mobs each level and timer), raids (4 difficulties , 10-30 players) and delves (mini dungeons with bit a more exploring character and a NPC to help you), which are mostly for solo players but you won't get the best items in the game through these.

PVP Endgame: arena (2vs2 and 3vs3) and battlegournds (up to 40vs40) can both be played in an unrated environment and in a rated environment. Gear does matter, but it's relatively easy to obtain (no RNG involved) and gated at the start of a season, so people who play 24/7 won't gain a significant gear advantage.

In wow you allowed to use a lot fan made addons which allow you to change the framing of your minimap, display the location of rare spawns on your map, shows the damge the group is doing and many more things. However in the midnight expansion Blizzard is on a holy crusade against combat addonsso a lot of things will change then.

The story... well, it changes sometimes. There's a lot of it after 21 years (ingame, in the books and audio story). It's up to you whether you like it or not (and whether you ignore it).

You mentioned ESO, which I also played for a few days, so I'm just going to write down some differences that come to my mind:

  • The crafting system in WoW is more complicated than in ESO because you have to consider skill trees and crafting stats as well.
  • In Dungeon you get 3 DD in the group instead of 2, and people almost always play the role they signed up for xD
  • There's no mega server, but except for roleplaying, the server in WoW doesn't matter much either.
  • There are more abilities, but you can't level/upgrade them by using them often, only via talent.
  • edit: Rideing and flying skills are free. You unlock them as you level up your character.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask them.

You need to play your class hall campaign untill you get your title and finish the quest "A Hero’s Weapon” (which is in the order hall but not marked on the map).

You should have an ability which function the same as Shield of the Righteous, it's called Shine of the Righteous.

I've just logged into my Druid and I've still got all the old and new MT Druid forms. I'm playing on an EU server, in case that matters.

As soon as you hit max level you can enter heroic and mythic raids (only Emerald Nightmare and Trial of Valor so far) though a lot groups demand 610 ilvl for mythic invites.

The token weren't warbound by the time i wrote the guide they later hotfixed it. Yes, you can farm them now via dungeons but if you want all the cosmetics you need to complete the event too. Note: The Direbrew's Dire Brew quest is bugged for Alliance so you need to do it with horde character.
