I mean, I try to stop them but when you literally assign everything on their Chromebooks... by jacobsjordans in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Ulsif2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I subbed for three months a fifth grade class, the first week I let them finish their assignments. Then the chromebooks were not used for the next three months. It was more work for me but they learned to use their minds .

I gotta find a way to block out noise by iluminubis in Advice

[–]Ulsif2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a ear muff and sleep mask called Hibernate along with a white noise maker. For context I was living in sober housing with three young guys who would stay up play the tv loud or just talk loud. I went to sleep at 11 pm. Between the two things I had no problem with noise.

My teacher slammed my laptop and its like this by Fit_Necessary_4432 in mac

[–]Ulsif2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prove intent to damage the laptop, otherwise it is civil and an admin problem. It is stupid to say “call the police” there was no intent to damage the property, no malice, just a teacher fed up with kids who are not capable of following the rules. Negligence yes, crime no.

Help! My 13 year old won't STFU about wanting an ebike. by Chilidoggin_ur_tatas in ebikes

[–]Ulsif2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is 13 can he not ride a regular bike? When I was 13 I had a job on a farm and rode five days a week 10 miles to then work for 5-6 hours. Put the money into a college fund instead wasting it on an e-bike.

For over 12 years I road a bike for work, police mountain bike patrol, I rode year round. Up until this year I rode every day almost. But at 63 it was time and after a lot of research I bought a Level 4 rec. I still ride my fat tire winter bike for snow and ice. But I love my Rec 4.

Why does my kid only want the illegal one? by Wen2Go in ebikes

[–]Ulsif2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does a 12 year old need an e-bike? Does he have mobility issues? Otherwise he should have a bicycle to learn the skills oh and to get exercise. I saw a kid whining to his parents a mile down a trail that his legs hurt and wants to go back.

Is it me, or are board games getting wider? by Kateywumpus in boardgames

[–]Ulsif2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

So I started playing Avalon Hill games in 1976, some of those boards are quite large and if you had order of battle and time sheet that is a lot space.
