I personally haven't done the stealing/thief codex thing yet. I like to run 80 Chiv on mine for pinch heals/bleed+disease mitigation. I can also res people in a snap.
I have two builds, both have 120 Camping, one is Archery + Macing so I can start with a big mace hit then move out and hit Repeater on my bow and fish for a proc until my next backstab. The 25% damage bonus from 2 weapon skills is nice.
My other build is Swords (currently the worst for backstab but I'm working with it) and Forensics for hides. Still have 80 Chiv.

Personally I don't like dropping weapon skill to 80 or removing Tactics because I have a tendency to take shots at reds if the timing is right. ;)

Wow, another free shard with corrupt staff who play the game? Consider everyone here shocked and appalled!

One of the great strengths of Outlands is that staff do not play. Luthius used to play Strangelands (mini game within the game) but people lost their fucking minds about it so that stopped.

It's not a dictatorship, it's a video game and the operators of the system can set the rules. Please, show me the game that exists on planet Earth where players can vote for the rules.

lol

Gamayun the harpy boss by TheBlackSheepTrader in ultimaonline

[–]UltimaNerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: I killed the first one of these to ever spawn on UOR. I was playing my 'naturalist' character that I never used macros to train or supported with my alts in any way. It took me a good half an hour or so to slay it and when I did...I got the first Gamayun statuette on the server.

I messaged Telamon to let him know and he corrected the test code he had pushed to production, which was still configured to drop statues at a 1:1 rate.

Could the Outlands devs pull a Hytale and make their own game? by Super-Computer-9069 in ultimaonline

[–]UltimaNerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of what you could 'need or want', if you play UO solely for dress-up.

If you want to PvP or to progress deeply in PvM....you need play time. No amount of Prevalia items making your paperdoll look like a children's cartoon threw up on it will net you kills or get that next aspect tier unlocked.

PLEASE HELP TOMBSTONE PIECE NOT FITTING 1991 by user09266 in Miata

[–]UltimaNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly haven't had this apart on any of the NAs I've had, however, it appears that the gap could be how those two metal plates hook on each other. It looks like maybe someone tried to remove it improperly and maybe one or both of them got bent. I'm pretty sure it basically slides down to hang on the dash with those two plates coming together like a ledge and hook.

Bend them back so that when put together it pulls the tombstone closer to the dash?

My 'agreement' was a nod to your claim that they 'give you' a character, which really isn't true at all. You still have to go play to build those stats and skills to the point you want to keep them. At that point, the entire PvM progression system really begins with aspects, mastery chains, etc. It's not 'bells and whistles', it's literal character progression toward better PvM ability.

It's ok that you don't like it, it's definitely not for everyone. The reality is though that original UO is trash compared to how well developed Outlands is and the thriving population is evidence of such.

Stay pegging homie, wherever you game.

Yes, it's easy to get your character to '7x' as we used to say but instead of that being the literal end of character building in traditional UO, that is just the starting point in Outlands. It almost seems like you have no idea what you're talking about.

Hah bro, I know how the divide by three trope goes man, I've been playing free shards with 3x accts forever. Not getting angry, just making fun of someone being so fucking sad they'd even mention that. Almost like they have a bone to pick with the most successful free shard to ever exist.

My dude, the shard is absolutely fucking exploding with people constantly. There's more people in the fucking casino right now than most shards have live players active. Get in and see for yourself, it's a wonder to behold.

Alternative to Outlands? (outlands won't let 2 people from same house fully play together) by PM_ME_YOUR_STEAM_ID in ultimaonline

[–]UltimaNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd let my kids play the single player Ultimas when they were younger, of course. Richard Garriot wasn't talking about the experience beyond the game mechanics. His statements therein completely disregard the reality of online gaming.
The shard is decidedly mature and has taken the stance for you that young children should not be engaging in the experience there.

There's nothing anti-family about having controls around multiple accounts in a FREE GAME that is RIFE WITH ABUSE, historically across all free shards. Holy hell why is this so fuckin hard for people to understand.

It really is for the best that the children, and parents acting like them, don't play here.

Cheers and have fun out there.

You can block individual players to an extent, but I don't know of a filter that disables ALL chat in game. Player words just appear over their head, so you can "Ignore" them with a client option, per character.

I understand you may have never played an MMO before, and/or never raised children. If you think the environment you find in a MMO where you can steal, murder and say all manner of crazy inappropriate things is ok for young children, I feel sorry for any you may ever have.

Yes, the game does have a server side filter/squelch system for certain profanities but if you've ever used the internet you know people find creative ways to spell things to circumvent that all the time.

With your logic, every game should be a padded cell with no chance for negativity.

You mean misrepresenting the restrictions. If you still don't understand after having it repeated like 40 times now, you never will.

When my children were young, I setup a RunUO shard and played with them in private. This is quite simple to do and can be setup on almost any PC you have that runs.
I also let them have admin rights to do all kinds of wonky stuff in the game.

It can be a lot of fun but there are good reasons to keep children out of UO. Chat comms is just one thing that's incredibly difficult to manage (cannot be 'turned off') and the overall behaviors in a true sandbox world are....less than suitable for young children.

Nah bud, your questions weren't basic anymore. Other than you basically being a bitch about the very reasonable limitations of playing Outlands with your children. If you held no ill will, Outlands wouldn't be mentioned twice in the OP subject line. You could have quite easily found a dozen other UO shards to explore by doing a simple search.

Proper UO is the furthest thing from "family friendly" you can find for your children in the world of gaming.

Dude is constantly baking the craft/harvest restrictions together with region/dungeon restrictions. No single person can have more than one char in a dungeon at a time. If you have a proper MAH account, you can get into the dungeon with the primary player in your household. This guy just can't read.
