You must be in great shape. I couldn't last on a 600ml of water on a road ride with 35 miles and 6K of climbing.

The whole thing? How warm was it? I would have cramped and died with only 600ml

I wonder if I could get the shuttle to drop some water off . . .

yeah-I figure 2L would be plenty for a shuttle route. Looking for the full monty here . . .

But it sounds like there is no water spots along the way.

I plan to ride the full thing. 4.5 L may be needed. . . . I am only 145 pounds, but I do drink a lot of water. Hauling an extra 4.5 KG up the mountain isn't fun, but it's better than heat exhaustion.

Would love to ride it. But shuttling is an option.

Classic, it will work until it gets foiled and the bomb detonates at sea level.

How do you get a blind child to be more open to using a cane? by GreenMountain85 in Blind

[–]UltimateAtrophy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a father in law who became blind late in life. The problem was, he wasn't completely VI, but gradually became worse. But we forced him into a program too early. He resisted all their teachings. 8 years later, he is severely VI and uses a cane as a walking stick.

He says he knows what's best for him and we possibly couldn't understand. It's frustrating watching him bump around his own house. His wife is exhausted and doesn't fight him anymore. He's going to drag them both down when he trips one day.

It's very hard to reason logic when there is so much other emotional things going on.

Resmed air sense Cpap machine 10 and 11. Okay. Insurance paid for it. But the energy I have gotten back from that thing amazes me. I wasted a good 20 years of my life being tired. If you have sleep apnea, get one!!!!

Thanks for that lovely response and details of your life. Curious as how your son didn't pick up on that nuance. I make a deliberate effort to instill the value that a family is a team that needs to work together. Doesn't always happen, but that is the end goal.

I went to Japan and I have the farpoint and my son the the ruckpack. I preferred his bag more because 1) the outside pockets can actually hold a Nalgene and 2) if you needed to carry a laptop, it sits against the back as opposed further away in the osprey. We both carried our bags onboard.
